I bought one for my wife back in 1985, along with a Nikkor 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5 AI zoom lens and Nikon SB-15 flash unit to go along with it. She took an interest in photography but didn't want to have to fiddle with setting exposure manually but more so the FG has multiple exposure modes (full program auto, aperture preferred auto, and full manual) allowing it to be a very versatile and handy photographic instrument. Also with the SB-15 flash, it has TTL flash metering capability to make for virtually foolproof flash exposures. She took many excellent photographs with hers and won a couple of contests in our local photography club competitions. It has an electronically controlled shutter but has a single 'mechanical' shutter speed in the event of battery failure. It doesn't have quite the robust build quality of the Nikon mechanical SLR cameras but it is a handy SLR film camera which allows for access to most of Nikon's AI/AIS/E series lenses from the period. It is still in the family as I passed it on to my granddaughter.

I know this is probably a new channel, but I can't believe it's not getting the recognition it deserves with such great content. Keep up the good work man!!

The only analog SLR I will ever need. Just bought a second one as a "backup" (I'll probably be able to give it to my future grand-kids xD )

The Nikon FG is an amazing little camera. Unless you're going into the battlefield, it's all you really need.

Having used the FG and the Canon AE-1 Program, I would give the FG a slight edge mainly because of the mechanical backup speed and its operation on the manual mode. Apparently, Nikon downgraded this camera to the FG-20 because it was cutting into sales of the FE2.

I just bought this Nikon FG , at my Value Village today ... I couldn't pass it up for $ 9.99 ... with the lens and aftermarket clip-on strap 50mm 1.8 f lens I would say this is an oddball model with the add-on fake little grip for your fingers? , Why add it and the didn't have the swivel stap anchors there made out of cheap plastic ... is this camera in between the Nikon F3 in the Nikon F4 .... which I have ... what was Nikon thinking istnt this between F2 and F3 ... up the game .. Nikon came out with a Nikon F5 after the F4 ..then made a cheaper version just as good cheaper to buy and made a Nikon F - 75 took the same quality pictures ... as Nikon F5 ... every way but I would say anything past Nikon 3 ..To Nikon F 4 , 5 , 6 , .... I don't know what Nikon was thinking ... I had in the 1990s a Nikon F 60 and I took awesome pictures with that camera , I find with any Nikon older I don't care what it is you'll take good pictures

It’s a liiiiiiiiiitle cringey that the pacing, delivery, phrasing, tone, style of subtle humor, is about as close as you can get to completely mimicking RegularCars’ “Regular Car Reviews” pacing, delivery, phrasing, tone, and style of subtle humor. I’m not sure if it’s satire with an unseen wink and a nod, or if it’s liking that whole style, and then straight up copying it as if it’s not something being copied. Really distracted me through the whole video and just has me cringing pretty hard. 😬😬😬 Peace and love though. Just needed to express my feeling cringe. 😬✌🏼👍🏼

Hey! No worries. On one hand I appreciate you noticing the similarity. I love RCR and have been watching them from the beginning. They do such and excellent job of addressing the cultural relevance of those cars, they’re well researched and damn funny. On the other hand, the intention was certainly not to copy, but I’ve absolutely been inspired by their style. If you don’t like it, that’s cool. And RCR deserves the credit. I appreciate the view and the feedback.
