Radiance Films || Ranking the First 8 Titles!

I only have the three titles that are Region A. Of those I did’t care at all for A Woman Kills although I appreciate its historical significance. It is the type of release where the supplements were far more interesting than the the feature. I wish I could share your love for Fill Er Up With Super. I found the banter of the four guys increasingly tedious and nearly stopped the video when one of them urinates on his ex’s bed right next to their child’s bed. Again the xtras were terrific and I do admire the approach of taking a camera on the road and making a movie against the grain with minimal resources. I thought Big Time Gambling Boss was sensational, a real revelation. I watched it twice and got even more out of it. I hope Radiance will release more such genre releases from this time period. I’m looking forward to Sunday Woman, Red Sun and the Franco Nero gangster trilogy all of which should be Region A. Great job in highlighting this new label, Nathan.

Greetings Nathan! Many thanks for the superb introduction to Radiance Film's initial eight releases. I'm cheering here in Edmonton because any time a new entity comes upon the scene that publishes little known or under appreciated films it is a notable happening. As well, how great is it that the films you covered were made in Italy, Sweden, France, Japan and the United States? The fact that they are consciously going the international route is very, very exciting. From my perspective the only question is, are the films being distributed in Region 1 format? I hope so because that would mean I can potentially acquire them. My own most recent viewing experience was the 1984 film, The Hotel New Hampshire, directed by Tony Richardson and featuring Rob Lowe, Jodie Foster, and Paul McCrane. Based on a best-selling novel by John Irving, the story centres on a very unorthodox (understatement) family led by a Gatsby-type Father played by Beau Bridges. His inability to focus leads his family into adventure and disaster in equal measure. Nastassja Kinski has a memorable turn as a woman who adorns herself with a bear suit. The film is both comedy and tragedy at the same time and therefore deserves to be seen. My most recent film acquisition is 2019's Pinocchio, featuring Federico Ielapi, Roberto Benigni, and Rocco Papaleo. Awesome stack of movies! Welcome to the Dollhouse is the only one out of those that I've seen and, yeah, good dancing around the subject.😂 I was looking into Radiance and was a little bummed that some of them are UK only. Don't currently have the ability to watch anything outside of USA's region....for now.

I agree that A Women Kills is my least favourite, but still a good title and definitely an important one that people can now finally see. Working Class is very very good, certainly my favourite of the bunch so far. Thanks for sharing, pal!

I haven’t bought all the releases, but I really love the ones I’ve bought. Yakuza Graveyard was one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while and I really liked Big Time Gambling Boss. Red Sun was my least favorite movie that I purchased by Radiance, but I still really enjoyed it(the lead actor lead actor was really good). My copies of Visible Secret and Messiah of Evil will be delivered tomorrow and I’m looking forward to watching them. I buy a lot of movies, but it seems that I rarely buy the ones I buy. When I bought my first Radiance film was delivered, I didn’t even remember ordering it and I knew nothing about the movie. I watched it later that evening and was blown away with how good the film was and couldn’t believe that I never heard of it. After that, I look forward to receiving Radiance films the most and have watched all of them shortly after receiving them. Whoever is picking the movies at Radiance really has good taste.

Radiance have been killing it this year! I'm a little behind on the recent titles, but loved everything I've seen so far...about 75% of them seen.

Fantastic video Nathan; I become a big fan of all things Radiance Films; I’m sort of gutted I missed out on the Radiance edition of ‘Working Class Goes To Heaven’; but I do owne & seen all the others; my fav of the range so far is ‘Welcome To The Dollhouse’; I might need to give ‘Fill Er Up With Super’ a rewatch; really please you love it bud 😀👍 ‘A Woman Kills’ is fantastic; I think ‘The Sunday Woman’; ‘Man On The Roof’; ‘Big Time Gambling Boss’ & ‘Miami Blues’ are all very solid films; really liked all of them mate; looking forward to their upcoming titles out 15th May in the U.K 😀🍿🎶 Great ranking bud!

I agree with you. I really wanted to love A Woman Kills but it just didn't connect with me. Felt like an early Godard film where I can appreciate the artistry and style but leaves me feeling cold. My favourite so far would be Working Class Goes To Heaven! Really excited about this label.

Hi Nathan I'm pleased Radiance Blu's are available in the US. I've seen most of their opening batch and my top 2 echo your own picks. Hadn't seen Dollhouse since it played at the cinema so nice to see it again. Radiance have to be my fave label right now and great to see them getting so much love and coverage on excellent channels such as your own.

Nice video, cheers, I totally agree with your top 4. I've really enjoyed all of Radiance's releases up until their latest arrived yesterday. (For me) 'Red Sun' gets the prize for one of the worst films I have ever seen.

I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that from time to time I'll buy one that doesn't connect with me. If I had to choose two absolute favourites, then they would be The Working Class Go To Heaven and Welcome to the Doll House. Good luck with Red Sun.
