Radiant Floor Heating: Installing PEX Tubing in Concrete Slab
We are installing PEX tubing in concrete in this 1,200 square feet utility building. We are using ½ inch oxygen barrier PEX and tying it to the rebar using zip ties. It took a couple of hours for four of us to finish. This included installation of pipes and tying them to the rebar.
In this video I talked about basic radiant heat design patterns, loop lengths & multiple other common topics.
I am referring to our local codes. However, most of these rules are universal and good starting point. Also, these apply equally to new construction and renovations. Always comply with your local guidelines.

thanks for posting but it is NOT clear how to lay it out...what did you do? exactly how was it layed out? I cannot see from the choice of footage. i can guess: first line goes along outside wall then loops back entire wall of that loop then start surpentine pattern which ends far away from manifold then returns to manifold straight down along the next loop area? is it true the first few feet out are warmest and last few feet coolest? therefore start by wall and finishing run maybe not so far away from surpentine. how do you get the pex to be 1" below surface on a 4" slab? do you have to make controlled cuts on a 40x60' floating slab? 4". maybe i'd do 4 loops 20x40, then my middle section is high ceiling open concept, then other side of house mirrors with 20x40' again. but how to design it so entire system is run from 1 mechanical room? maybe not too expensive to set up 2 seperate systems: 1 on each side of home. designed like a duplex w shared middle space kitchen/great room.

How high is the rebar from the floor? How thick is your slab? How deep are the saw cuts going to be?
