I really feel sorry for Heiss. Like other Black Chronicle's holder, he has to watch the death of countless of his ancestors who sacrificed themselves for the ritural. He may be mad, but he considers Stocke like his own son. I am really glad that the Perfect Chronology has given better endings to not only him but also other villians, which is the true meaning of the White Chronicle: to open doors to the promising future.

But giving a good ending to everyone would make everything that happened before useless. And to be fair- he does get a happy ending, he becomes the sacrifice and saves Stocke, which was his goal

Well said. Honestly I've played tons of jrpgs and he's one of the few that I genuinely felt sorry for even though still madman in the end of the day. And made him imo memorable to myriad of jrpgs villains.

Let's be honest though, when Kiel sacrificed himself so Stocke and Rosch could get away it made all of us at least tear up a little. But that aside I truly did feel sorry for Heiss especially while he was explaining everything, and the fact he ended up aging to about 64 only because of him skipping time constantly.

That's just a standard toccata/counterpoint style in classical music. Johann Sebastian Bach is notorious for it. Japanese composers sample this sort of stuff all the time, including others like Nobuo Uematsu and especially Michiru Yamane.
