This video has 3 presentations. Matthew Scott, a radiation therapist, talks about what will happen during a radiation treatment, and what the treatment machine and room will look like. Dr. Elizabeth Kurien, a radiation oncologist, talks about how the radiation machine will move around you during treatment and how every person’s radiation treatment is unique. Dr. Greg Peirce, a medical physicist, explains how the amount of radiation (dose) and the number of treatments (fractionation) is specific to each person and the type of cancer they have. Charlotte and Gerry share their experience about having radiation treatment.

@@jellybathwater. Please don’t feel nervous about anything. The treatment is 100% painless and you will not feel a thing honestly. I had 37 sessions for aggressive prostate cancer and I started to feel much better after around 25 sessions. The treatment destroys the cancer cells DNA so they can’t replicate and so they die. Please go there with a positive attitude. Everyone that you will come into contact with are very nice helpful friendly people and Macmillan Nurses will keep a check on your well being. If you need any further advice I’m happy to advise you. Again, Please don’t worry. Peter.

Cancer cells are anaerobic as opposed to regular cells that are aerobic. Thus, instead of consuming oxygen like regular cells, cancer cells consume a large amount of sugar to survive. This is apparent because when PET scans are done, a cancer lights up in the image as the cancer feeds on the radioactive sugar. If you cut out a lot of fructose, fruits, etc. you can help yourself at least but be aware, even if you cut out all sugar from your diet, your own body produces a small amount of sugar on its own and needs some to survive. Even cancer cells can live off of ketones. The main things you can really do would be fasting, reducing reactive oxygen species with certain supplements like garlic, astaxanthin, EGCG etc., exercising and avoiding allopathic medicine. Allopathic medicine has you do CT scans, PET scans and mammograms as "preventative measures", which ironically only cause cancer. The ionizing radiation from these specific imaging machines induces cancer by disrupting the molecules and electrons in your cells. The radiation is strong enough to cause double-strand damage and thus a gene mutation which eventually leads to cancer 6-7 years after exposure. Allopathic medicine also has you do biopsies, these help cancers grow because it punctures the extracellular matrix that a cancer is encaged in and helps it grow. Chemo and radiation don't distinguish between healthy and cancer cells, they kill all cells, which leads to rebound cancer later on, so avoid this also, but most people don't listen and "trust/believe the science" instead of following the evidence

I had aggressive Prostate Cancer, a PSA score of 174. No saving the prostate so it was removed along with the seminal vesicles. Post surgery I had a residual PSA of 1.6 rising to 2.4. Should be zero. Started 40 sessions of radiation treatment and after having done 22 of the 40 sessions I tested my PSA again and it had fallen to 0.29. Good news. Treatment doesn't outright kill cancer cells but instead cripples their ability to reproduce. As I write this 24 sessions are completed. My oncologist hadn't ordered a PSA test so I did it myself. Its confirmation on this direction.

The most common cause of hypothyroidism is an autoimmune disorder known as Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Autoimmune disorders occur when your immune system produces antibodies that attack your own tissues. Sometimes this process involves your thyroid gland. Scientists aren't sure why this happens, but it's likely a combination of factors, such as your genes and an environmental trigger. However it happens, these antibodies affect the thyroid's ability to produce hormones. I was able to cure my hypothyroidism with the help of Dr Erayo on KZbin

Greatly varies based on your specific treatment plan. I did 50 radiation treatments total 40 to the pelvis and 10 to the lungs. For the lungs I had no side effects whatsoever. For the pelvis I was also on chemo for the full duration of radiation, and my radiation plan was extremely high dose with an extra boost to target the skin. Now unfortunately skin doesn't hold up well to radiation and chemotherapy stops your body from being able to heal damaged cells. So I ended up with a horrific open radiation burn after 25 radiation treatments, and ended up in the hospital due to infection risk concerns at 30 treatments when it hit a 3rd degree radiation burn and started bleeding. I ultimately finished all my radiation treatments. But yes it was extremely painful, but thankfully healed quickly. My best advice if you're getting radiation therapy is to ask your radiation oncologist what side effects to expect, and ask them how bad they anticipate a skin reaction, if any.

@@dwellinlove I have finished radiotherapy on my head and neck. Heres the truthful side effect. I have an nasogastric tube (up my nose and into my stomach) because I cannot eat or drink because of the burns in my throat. Its like the worst sore throat you've ever had, x100. Also I have burns in my mouth. Then there's the radiation pneumonitis, the cough you develop because radiation is messing with your throat. Then there's the worst thing, mucositis!! Your saliva changes into this thick mucus that makes you dry heave. Its disgusting. Then there's the radiation burns on the outside, my skin is peeling like crazy. Its like the worst sunburn in the world. Then there's your tastebuds. It destroys them. Everything tastes and feels like dirt and broken glass. But all these things, horrific as they are, aren't permanent. Looking forward to them getting better. Like now I can eat porridge and soup and drink small quantities of water. It no longer feels like someone poured boiling water down my throat. The burns are less painful.

If ever any of you who's reading would like some more informations that weren't touched on in this video : feel free to ask me ! It'd be my pleasure to help you understand with the extent of my knowledge. I know sometimes it's difficult to find informations on the Internet or give yourself an insight idea of the goals and ways Radiotherapists treat. Please just keep in mind that I'm originally a French speaker and I study in French as well, but I'm fluent in English and should be able to converse no problem ! If I can reassure you about radiotherapy, it'd be my pleasure because it is a formidable technology against cancer and more specifically tumors ! Of course like basically any cancer treatment, there are pros and cons, but chemotherapy is far much problematic.

Is radiotherapy harmful... My mother wd breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy and she had diabetes and blood pressure.... Is it harmfull... Plz reply🙏🙏
@hishouha
@hishouha 2 жыл бұрын
@@ATOZzone4662 Hi ! I’m sorry to hear that :( First of all, Radiotherapy itself is not as harmful as chimiotherapy. What could happen, since she is treated for her breast, is that she could get some skin reactions from the radiation. The skin in that area is more sensible. Be reassured though, the way Radiotherapy is planned and used is with the purpose to protect as much as possible while also treating the cancer efficiently. Radiotherapist are formed to keep track of the symptoms and give the directions appropriately. It also depends on each person, some will get no reaction, some a little bit more. Usually it is a bit like a sunburn and can be helped by following your Radiotherapist’s instructions. It is possible that your Mom might get tired more easily, it is because the cells are using a lot of energy to regenerate and it’s normal. Radiotherapy only treats and affects a very specific area, which means you do not need to worry about diabetes and blood pressure, it will not affect it. We usually get pretty good results, especially with breast cancer. Some other reactions exist, but are more rare and it is better to see with your Radiotherapist or the Radio-oncologist for any doubt. If you have any other questions or worry do not hesitate! It will be my pleasure to help I send you strength and I hope for your Mom to get better ❤️

Hi, my mother was diagnosed w/breast cancer 3 years ago. Doctor stated that her growth was about the size of a walnut back then. Her wishes are not to undergo chemotherapy. She recently had an episode where her nipple was leaking fluid two months ago, today it is more so. Doctor suggests she at least under go radiation therapy. Approximately how many times do they have to do the procedure and for how long? How long is each session? And does she have to remain in the hospital for this? Can you tell me what stage of the cancer is she in? Thank you for your time.
@hishouha
@hishouha 2 жыл бұрын
@@sandykat Hi! I’m sorry to hear that… So to answer some of your questions, the number of times she will have to come for a session can vary from person to person, but a standard treatment plan can be around 18-20 sessions, one per day during week days. Each session can turn around 15 minutes, the first one being a little longer. Again it is up to the RadioOncologist and Radiotherapist to decide of the best plans, but that’s the most common case. She will not have to be hospitalized; one of the biggest advantage of Radiotherapy is how conservative it is and so once the session is done, she can go back home without problem. I can not do any diagnosis or guess on her stage, sorry. This must be fully evaluated by the RadioOncologist and her Doctor as it this neither in my capacity or in my rights to do any diagnosis. Hope it helps ! If you have any question do not hesitate :)

Im going through radiation therapy at this time for a cancer mass on my eppiglottis and voice box. It is one of the tougher treatments to have, 34 total treatments, 5 days a week. Im not even finished and i can talk again. In the beginning I had a tracheostomy because I couldn't breathe or talk, now i can do both. Hopefully when its all said and done i will get my trachea removed and be able to also eat food by mouth again.

I have suggested to the radiation folks that they are missing the same opportunity that the MRI and CT scan folks are missing. They could sell advertising on various surfaces of the machine as well as the ceiling. It could even be by means of video monitors so that could constantly change, and you could sell to more advertisers. Also, in my case, they gave me a little plastic donut to hold on to with both hands as way to just have my arms lay naturally on my chest. This resulted in hands positioned almost like what is used on a gaming controller. If the type of treatment physically permits it, give the patient a game controller and put some 3-D goggles on them. They can keep themselves busy playing games. Of course, I'm kidding about all this - maybe.

Because it depends of the type of cancer, how advanced is, and if it has spread to other parts of the body. My mother had to get chemo, radiation and immunotherapy. She was given 1 month to live in Aug 2019, before surgery, she is still alive Jan 2023. She had a uterine cancer, and developed a second tumor 3 months after surgery. Her treatments have been an incredible miracle. You can’t generalized treatment for everyone. Each person has different body and cancer needs.
