Another brilliant demo. Thank you for sharing. That first split is goose-bump-enducing. I'm anticipating getting similar sounds from the P12 (which finally shipped this morning...). The sonic depth of the Accelerator is very impressive.
@MIDERA4 жыл бұрын
Thanks man - That first sound isn't a split but a single patch, using a HP filter and velocity sensitivity on the cutoff. Turned out pretty nice! Can't wait to get your opinion on the P12.

@@MIDERA Nice! Yeah, totally thought it was a split. Sounded great. I should have the P12 Friday. I'll dive in and see what happens!

I'll be honest, I really really want the P12 - but what made you decide on that versus the Summit?
@pointsurrender4 жыл бұрын
@@MIDERA I've spent a lot of time with the Peak and know what it can do. The Summit is essentially two Peaks in a keyboard with a few enhancements. But I'm not interested in a keyboard. I'm going for something rack mount. You can actually rack mount the Peak (unofficially). I really like the Peak/Summit but I prefer Curtis filters to the filter on the Peak. So I'm giving the P12 a whirl. If I don't like the P12 I'll pick up another Peak for sure. Was all set to order another Peak until I stumbled into some really good P12 demos and decided to give it another look.

Really beautiful sounds man. I’d love to get hold of an Accelerator, still high up on the GAS list. Sadly they are a rare find for sale. Great to hear more of it, thanks.
@MIDERA4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don't see them around much. I think there's one for sale on ebay? Or... maybe it's down, I don't know. What synths do you have?
@lifesynthtance4 жыл бұрын
MIDERA Thanks for your reply, I don’t see any Accelerators on eBay or Reverb right now. Have to admit I kind of slacked off my search and have been adding other synths on the list. Current set up consists of an Analog Keys, (thanks to your videos) a Prophet 12, OB6, Pro 2, Digitone, Digitakt & Memorymoog Plus and most recently a Juno 60. A DX7 Mk1, DX7IIFD, M1, SY77, Nord Lead 4 and Moog Subsequent 37 had to go to free up funds and space for the most recent additions.

Damn - you've got quite a few that I'd want. I think you're pretty well covered. I seriously want an OB6 (but don't know why). I also want a Prophet 12... and also don't know why, other than I think it looks cool. I've also pined quite a bit for the MODOR NF-1. But haven't gotten it yet :/ Also: www.ebay.com/itm/Accelerator-Radikal-Technologies/254582411144?hash=item3b464b4f88:g:yxoAAOSw8CBeqHyE Depending on where you live, maybe that's an option? Doesn't have many bids and is due to end soon...

MIDERA I wasn’t able to see that Accelerator listing. I guess because it didn’t ship to Canada. However it went really cheap I’d say. Somebody got a great deal. Just checked out the NF-1, pretty cool thing. I’d best not watch too many demos, lol. Yeah I feel well set up to cover a lot of territory sound wise. The OB-6 is pretty limited, however it more than makes up for it with its gorgeous tone. I’ll never sell that thing. The P12 looks stunning I agree, it’s pretty much a sound designers dream machine. A lot of the demos made me have reservations about it but now owning one, it does sounds amazing and can definitely sound fat and analog with careful programming. Great for lush evolving ambient pads. Taming the beast is the answer for the best and most satisfying results .It’s another one I’ll never sell. Hope you end up getting one or even both some day.
@MIDERA4 жыл бұрын
Craig Bell yeah, wow, went for around $1300 (probably without expansions). Still, I am shocked. Must be the pandemic causing people to not spend. Seller must be a bit bummed about the price. That’s way cheap for the Accelerator. I figured the answer for what to get between P12 and OB6 is both, lol.

Nice work on this. Always enjoyed the sound of the Accelerator, it oftentimes doesn't sound like a digital synth at all but more analog in nature. Very impressive fidelity. It seems to excel at cinematic soundscapes as well. Never seen one pop up locally... I know there are annoyances due to lack of knobs and menu diving but the sound is so rich...
@MIDERA4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I know you’ve been searching for a few years. I would definitely say it excels at rich pads. As I play more with it I’m getting used to some of the shortcuts to make editing easier, so if you ever do get one I could share that with you. I know it’s taken me years to really start getting to really interesting places with it. This is probably my first real step towards that. I don’t hear too many other people coming up with their own sounds though, only factory presets which are ok, but don’t really do much for me personally (although there are some that are incredible). Next step is to really dig into the string filter, which is actually very cool but a bit awkward to use (you have to route filter 1 into 2 and then you can use the string filter, ok not that awkward). Lack of knobs has never felt like a problem to me. I’d say more like an awkward UI in general. But again, once you know it, it poses less of a problem. I’m starting to hear the character in it that I appreciate. That said - I would not consider this a synth with self-oscillating filters. They’ll do it, but they’ll blow your speakers and don’t sound that great. But for people like you and me who really like pads, I think you’d be ok with that limitation.

I'm trying to figure it out how the first patch makes a percussive sound on short tap but a long attack on hold. Can you post the patch settings, please?

Sure! I’ll figure it out and relay to you. I don’t recall what I did either. I do remember thinking it was a cool effect and I did it by accident...

@Triclops200 - So... Here is what's happening. I have it in HP24 mode, EGDepth -69, keyscale 12. ADSR: 79, 98, 0, 89. What I have set up for velocity is Filter cutoff 1 set to 127. So when I hit the key hard, it sets the cutoff high. When I lightly tap, it sets it with a low cutoff... this is why you hear 'bells' with the light tapping and you hear an 'enveloped' sound with strong presses.

Can I buy your banks for the Accelerator mate? ;)
@MIDERA4 жыл бұрын
I don't really have 'banks' of sounds... I have a bunch of random 'init' patches stored everywhere. I don't think I could legitimately sell them.
