Radio 4BC Ron Saywell dies 2022 aircheck from 1972

Ron Saywell worked at numerous stations in Queensland Australia,including 4IP, 4BC, 4BK, 4GG, 4TO, and 4CA. Sadly died in July 2022. This is from his radio show on the 17th May 1972. Songs have been edited out for copyright reasons.

Ron worked at 2UE in the early 1980s. He loved radio. He loved the excitement, the challenge and the buzz of walking around the corridors of a radio station. Although he was never an offical “good guy”, that’s exactly what he was - one of radio’s good guys. I have no doubt that right now, he is having some tea cake and a yarn with his mum.

I never worked with him, However everybody said the same thing... a Gentleman... the last day of 4IP video has some footage of Ron.. RIP Ron

Just out of interest - how did you manage to get a good quality recording, this would have been a direct studio feed!

It's a cassette copy of a real to real which I'm told was recorded off the studio.

@@SamOldies It really sounded nice and clean compared to some other airchecks which some have seen better days. This one sounded like you listened to it that day. Captured it nicely!
