Radio Caroline - Pirate radio

40 years since the marine bill. We visit Radio Caroline and go on board and get the atmosphere of offshore radio pirates. Recorded by Eastward Hospital television

Without the Pirates -there wouldn t have been commercial radio /Radio 1 etc. -so the pirates were very important -and all the records i bought was via listening to Caroline

Thanks for the upload. I missed it on tv. Takes me right back and I do remember that salute to Free Radio (starts about 6.30 in clip) as it was broadcast live. Good time to be young and was immensely enjoyable time to be in the 60s and 70s.

A nice tribute to the best radio station. still on air after 43 eventful years. give it a listen on Sky channel 0199 or the internet you won't be bored by the variety of music they play.

Back then (60s) you could only listen to the BBC in the UK, other than any stations from Europe. At that time no commercial Radio. Thanks to so called Pirate Radio that slowly changed. Thanks to Radio Caroline and others.

The Pirates gave us some of the best radio the UK has ever heard. The Marine offences act is just another attack on our freedom so the Government can control the media. Caroline gave them a kick up the backside, she is still going but sadly no longer free. She aims at an adult audience it isn't only the young who enjoy radio and they are not the only audience out there. The young are well catered for already. God bless you Caroline and all the other maverick broadcasters who made the 60s ROCK !

Time it came back, broadcasting from the Ross Revenge. That"s the real Radio Caroline. A lot of people want it back - that includes me !!

I think Caroline, as I knew and loved, died on 1990. How can it be Caroline if it isn't broadcasting from a ship and waving two fingers at the Marine offences act?

The Caroline that on Sky Digital is not the Caroline of the past its just a station full of old men. Caroline as I remember was a kicking station with hot tunes in 558 days, this is not Radio Caroline and is just now an damn nostalgia station.. call it anything but Caroline!

That's awesome how they turn a boat into a radio station and blast the rock and roll I'm from Canada so we did not have that stuff here but I don't get how they made it against the law the government didd not want people to listen to R & R or what
