Your comment reminds me of this one interview with Junhyung where they asked how he assigns parts in his songs... iirc he said Gikwang has a loose, R&B feel, Dongwoon's voice is sincere/sentimental, Doojoon voice is sort of rap-like which suits rhythmic parts, and Hyunseung (when he was still with them) had a voice that could 'lift' up the song. I forgot what he said about Yoseob, but lbr he's just perfect. I think about this a lot whenever I listen to their songs. :)

i wont say new groups lack of distinctive voice......most of the new group's members are still finding ways to improve their ways of singing / finding a singing style that will suit themselves.....THE OLDER GROUPS HAVE ALREADY GONE THROUGH THAT PHASE AND ALL OF THEIR MEMBERS HAVE FOUND THEIR OWN STYLE OF SINGING.......just look at the time when they first debut, they have times when their voice are being ignored because its not unique/too mainstream......for example, Dongwoon during the BAD GIRL, BREATH era......
