My dad was a ship radio officer. I shouldve shown this video to him before he passed.

He got a RTTY (Radio Teleype) message from Sydneyradio/VIS. (The morse was Sydney's callsign.)

Heard the background sound, the major comm mode seems to be F1(fax) and ARQ mode telex! I ended my sea life on 1984, Morse is still the major comm tools...😉

I agree against all the businesses have been made in the marine radiocommunications world, I agree with new technologies but Morse should be remained at his place.

I see your youtube channel....and the title reminds me of a book I had (maybe still have it...need to look for it) with the same title, "Sparks...what's going on?", The author was a retired Merchant Marine Radio Officer named Sylvester Fokking. (not sure of last name spelling) It was a compilation of interesting stories of life of seagoing radio operators back in the days of still using morse code, and on into more modern times. My reason for interest is my occasional hobby of Ham Radio. I just wonder if there is a connection to Mr. Fokking ? Regards, Rich K2CPE

@@furdoonjeesalesservicesboo9154 I believe the author was selling the book himself.....i seem to recall sending payment direct t the author, but it was over 30 years ago and i don't remember exact details...... If i can find my copy i will give it one last read then send it to you.....
