Only you Hutchings old chap, could make an eye wateringly funny report out of an experience as worrying, and the treatments as undignified, as what happens with Prostate Cancer 🤣 Keep on looking for the funny angle and I'm sure you'll find what you're going through a lot easier to bear. Best wishes Julian!

I guess that after your odyssey with the enema and its implements when you finally get back to the bike you will have a new appreciation for the bike's saddle comfort.... 🤣 Wishing you well my friend!

Julian I wish you the very best. A little tale you may find amusing is that I recently had to prep for a colonoscaopy, the prep invilved drinking 2 days prior a laxative called Moviprep. 1 litre on the first day and another litre on the second. Viscious in its operatiuon would be an understatement. Speaking to freind and fellow cyclist about it told me he had to do the same a while back. He could only manage the day 1 litre so in order not to wast the day 2 litre he used to clean his bike chain with perfect results.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

For a super clean chain, get your laxachain from you LBS. Not to be taken orally.

Thanks Julian, very informative and with some humour! I too am a cyclist (65y) . I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in March 2024. I'm having 3 monthly PSA tests and periodic MRI scans. No further action needed yet. My main issue is enlarged prostate. Can't remember when I last slept right through the night, uninterrupted! Was taking Tamsolosin - started causing disturbed vision (briefly) and insomnia. So trying to go without it. If I had to have radiotherapy - are you well enough afterwards to drive yourself home? I ask this as my wife is in poor health. Enjoy your blogs - you'll be back on the bike before you know it Thanks Andy

Hi Andy - no problems driving afterwards - it’s not invasive. And I’ve not stopped cycling - prolly do 150 miles this week

Thanks for swift reply. I wasn't sure whether radiotherapy made you feel nauseous or similar. I average about 100miles a week now - rain permitting, so you're doing pretty well - must be the galaxy ripples!@@JulianHutchings

I really hope it all turns out well. Look what happened to OJ Simpson at 76. Love your sense of humor.
