Completely restored Hacker Hunter for Mike. This has had the works. Full amplifier rebuild, electrolytics replaced, dial plate and knobs polished and the sides finished with beeswax polish. A great example of the Hacker Hunter RP38A which is considered to be one of the best sounding portables ever made. Thanks for watching

Very nice job Graham I like that variant with the stripe grill and rounded handle (rather than the square handle) rola speaker rather than the goodmans , and i'm a fan of white printed dial face Thanks for sharing Best regards Shaun

Wonderful job on that radio. It’s absolutely gorgeous and sounds very nice as well. I’m a big fan of the Hacker radios but something like that is almost impossible to find in the states. Love your channel! Keep up the good work! 👏🏻👍❤️📻

That is very much for your kind comments. I have sent radios to the States before for customers but the shipping, customs etc make it very difficult and costly. Glad you like the channel. Regards Graham

@@Radiocruncher yes the shipping is high. I was looking at a Roberts radio on Etsy located in the UK. The radio was $135 and shipping was $107!

Looks stunning. Amazing work. I have just bought an RP38A from eBay (untested) that 'looks' like it could be a good contender for restoration. Do you offer a service for this? I receive it next week and will test. But I'd like to either learn to restore it - bit of a learning curve - but also happy to pay someone who already knows what they're doing! The reason I have bought one is that my late Grandfather had one and I remember it well in his house that I spent a lot of time in. I miss him greatly and wanted to re-establish this part of his character in my life today.

Hi. I’d be happy to restore it for you. I’ve done a lot of these and they are usually pretty straightforward. If you want to have a god at some of it then I can help with advice if necessary. Drop me an email to graham@radiocruncher.com

If it sounds fine then leave then be. If you start getting distortion and high battery drain then that’s the time to do them
