I'm living in France in Normandy ! Thanks for your jobs and your tutorials about all these topics in radio production and broadcasting. Since two months I'm travelling in the mysterious land of RadioDJ and I'm working on a future project named "AIRVS, LA RADIO QU'IL VOUS FAUT !" The project will be online in a few months ... "si tout va bien ;-)" THANKS !

Great video, Jeff! 16:29 - I don't believe I've ever seen a DJ working a mic that close! I never did like the battleship gray RE-20. I used to have a beige RE-20 and I did like that one but then I became enamored with the new RE-20 Black (which is actually a charcoal gray) and I bought one of those. I've been thinking about buying a Sure SM58 just for the heck of it but I definitely prefer the Electro-Voice RE-20! Although, I have never been able to get the same sound quality out of it that I hear on KZbin video's using the same mic and that drives me crazy! OK, "crazier". I'm running it through a dbx 286s Mic Preamp processor and a Focusrite Scarlett Solo usb audio interface and I recently bought a Rode Rodecaster Duo mixer but haven't really used it that much. Quite honestly, I don't believe it lives up to the hype!

I'm a fan of the RE-20, BUT it's subjective. Different voices sound better on different mics. Gotta try b4 u $$. A lot o' YTubers are processing their audio in post with plugins vs external gear. I hope to do a future vid on mic processing!

Brilliant video. Great with links to where to find sound clips and effect sounds. How about showing us where to find / buy voice overs so we can produce our own station sweepers and liners, without having to buy an entire imagening pakcet that costs an arm and a leg?

Appreciate that! I found my voice guy on Fiverr. Search: radio imaging There's a bevy o' voiceover talent to choose from. You've sparked an idea for a video! How to spend the least on a VO package and make the most out of it. I've sliced n' diced two sessions with my announcer into tons of content. Stay tuned!

Again it's always good to learn from somebody that actually was in the business and not a corporate suit. Time to jump in the pool and re-fresh my station. Thanks brother-Rock On!

Happened to stumble upon your channel last week. As a child of the 80’s, and a recovering DJ, what you are doing is amazingly interesting. The station itself is killer! How do I tell Google and Alexa to play your station? Nothing I’ve said or tried has worked. Thanks.

Wow, I really appreciate the kind words! Instead of this channel, maybe I should be running local meetings for Recovering Radio DJs. :) If you're ever interested in doing a podcast on the internet radio revolution, let's chat! As for Google & Alexa, I'll look into it!

I would like to know how you made the triple play sweepers / jingle on your triple play KZbin video. Please help

Can I ask where you get all your 80’s music from?

I had a big 80s CD collection. Plus, lots o' tracks from my radio days.

Is there an alternative to radio dj as I am a Mac user?
@RadioDJDude Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, there aren't any free options that are featured-packed like RadioDJ. Here's a good overview of radio apps: www.cloudrad.io/radio-broadcasting-software Honestly, I'd recommend getting a used PC laptop to run RadioDJ. I'm a Mac user & that's what I did. Works great!

How do you make the jingles that have the station name in song?
@RadioDJDude Жыл бұрын
Can you send me a timecode from the video? I'm not 100% sure which jingles you're referring to.
@InsideOfMyOwnMind Жыл бұрын
@@RadioDJDude The vocals in this video were all vocorder action. What I am referring to are the ones who seem to have actual humans actually singing, usually in chorus to deliver either station ID or other self promo content.

I have a sung station jingle that I purchased from "Radio Jingles 24". It was fairly affordable. To me, there's nothing like a real sung jingle. All the legit companies use real singers. I'm sure you can monkey around with AI, but I have yet to hear a good robot singer. I'm sure that will change in 5 min. Another option is to checkout Fiverr for "jingle singer". @@InsideOfMyOwnMind
