this song doesn’t get enough recognition because it’s on pablo honey
@GibbyBoy28313 жыл бұрын
@@ginobarahona7183 my point was that Pablo honey is underrated. When you compare it to anything radiohead have done afterwards it’s frowned upon and is often last or second last on any radiohead fans top list of albums. It doesn’t get the recognition it deserves as an album and after 28 years, still holds up.
@evo25422 жыл бұрын
It gets cited as 'the only great Pablo Honey track' all the time that paved the way for "The Bends" sound. And "Wish Blow Out was on the Bends instead it would be a perfect fit" occasionally.

I saw them play this song to close a set they played at a pub called The Market Tavern (Kidderminster, England). It cost £2.50 to get in and the gig hadn't sold out. Haha. This was about 1993. It was f*****g epic! First song was 'Prove Yourself' or 'You' one of those (it was a long time ago!) and out of all three guitarists (bass not included) they had two strings left. Thom said 'The record is all of them'. Haha. It was an amazing gig. They have changed a lot over the years. Back then they were like an explosion of power and a lot more thrashy. Good to see they still get 'Blow Out' on the set list
@AllenMZim4 жыл бұрын
Do you remember what other songs that the band played at the Market Tavern show? It's so rare to see someone who saw them live back in those old days...
@leemidwinter13794 жыл бұрын
@@AllenMZim It was after they had released Creep the first time around. A lot of critical praise (In the top 10 of singles of the year for NME, which was a pretty major indie paper back then not what it is now) but Creep didn't really hit the big time until second release. The Kidderminster gig was for the Anyone Can Play Guitar tour so I guess (it was a long time ago!) the songs played were everything off Pablo and the AOCPG EP.
@markroberts54943 жыл бұрын
@@leemidwinter1379 I saw them in 93 a couple of times. I think Portsmouth. Some of the first gigs I ever went to... Back then, every gig I got to see was amazing, and Radiohead didn't seem to stand out particularly - it was thrashy fun like nearly everyone else playing similar venues. I think they had big plans though...

Creep is almost a masterpiece. It is mostly disliked by fans because Radiohead started to hate it mainly because the label kept on pressuring them on making another "Creep" hit. They were understandably really bothered by that, because they didn't wanted to keep on evolving and experiment with their art. None the less it's a super solid track, where pieces comes together, vocal melody and performance. Johnny Greenwoods ripping guitar, which in in such a unique way before the chorus starts. Even the details which are often overlooked, the tremolo guitar by Johnny, played under the middle 8 part. like I said super solid track, which still holds up. It's really a classic. I never really play it my self but when people put it on then I remember why it was considered to be so awesome, and was super hit. Which was on heavy rotation, on the radio station for many years after its release, when I was growing up. Do you really think that song sucks. since you say "Other than that song the album is great"

What's Thom say at the start
@lk-music3 жыл бұрын
He said 'This will fox ya' meaning he thinks you'll find it confusing (that they're going to play a Pablo Honey track, probably), but you can hear individuals in the crowd yelling out like they're getting the best gift ever when they recognise what's coming, so there are at least a few die-hard Radiohead fans avoiding being foxed. The video description has a misheard quote "this one f**ks you up". However, Thom definitely says 'will' not 'one' you can clearly hear the L's, which means he wouldn't say 'f**ks' (it would then just be 'this will f**k you up') but you can clearly hear the S sound from 'fox', so he's not saying 'this one f**ks you up' but 'this will fox ya'. In Thom's accent if he was saying 'you up' in a single syllable it would still be 'yup' and not 'ya'.

This song is an odd one, because as a lot of people say, this is the first "real" radiohead song and it's head and shoulders above anything else oh PH - but at the same time still isn't quite there - the instrumental after the first chorus doesn't really flow, and it's 1 bar repeated 3 times (it doesn't build, it doesn't alter). Likewise the extended outro kind of goes on for way too long. I heard PH for the first time in 1993, but it's only literally the last week that I've actually appreciated this track. Could easily be on In Rainbows (if they sorted that too-long outro out and that instrumental after the chorus lol).
