very specific compliment but the way the drum kit sounds on this gives it this post-punk edge I didn't know this song needed. anyways great cover as usual
@cjmahoney2 жыл бұрын
This was the compliment I didn't know I needed. lol. I try to make my kit sound like Phil's kit circa 2003...a little more powerful than the modern kit.

Sometimes I know yall must think "is this it?" "To be a RH cover band forever?", but at the same time you are doing such a huge service to the RH fans out there, and this is not just any band, this is fukin RH for christ sakes, which there is only one of them. Anyway, keep doing what yr doing. It is amazing and I'm sure Thom and the gang have seen some of these and have been just as awed as we are.

Once again this is badassery at its finest and well executed. Drummer may have been a bit too busy with the fills towards the end but it still sounded great. And I love the loop that Ed plays in this song. Could use a bit more reverb to wash it out a bit but well done lads!

Hey Joe awesome performance :) What's the name of the keyboard you're playing? How does the wireless connection work by the way?
@JoeEdelmann32 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It’s an Alesis Q25. I rigged up a 6 x AA battery pack for it, and it sends MIDI to my Nord Stage 3 (which is actually making the sound) via a long 20’ standard midi cable!
@natalievelasquez26642 жыл бұрын
This might sound stupid... but how does midi actually work with instrumentation? I'm a rookie when it comes to that topic
@JoeEdelmann32 жыл бұрын
@@natalievelasquez2664 not a stupid question at all! MIDI is a digital control language for synthesizers/effects. When you press a key on a MIDI keyboard like the Alesis, it sends a set of instructions (“note A2 on, with velocity (loudness) of 0-127”) and when you let go of the key it sends a “note off” message. The receiving synth (in this case my Nord) interprets those messages and turns it into sound generation at that note at that intensity (as if I had pressed a key on the Nord directly). Note on/off messages are the most basic (and how people sequence synthesizers from a laptop for example), but there are also CC (continuous control) messages that allow you to manipulate other aspects of the sound as well (master volume, pitch bend, modulation, etc). The standard old school connection for MIDI is called 5-pin DIN (those large round cable connectors) but nowadays a lot of controllers and synths will transmit or receive midi information over USB as well.
