This is such a beautiful song. This used to be my wife’s favorite song. We played this at her funeral as her last request before she passed away. Every time I listen to this, it gets too emotional.

I was about 23 years old when high n dry released. Now I'm 50 and I still love this song as much as I love Radiohead. I was in the midst of a break up with my first love when I first heard this song. I stayed up all night listening to high n dry with tears in my eyes, not knowing how to cope with this loss. As I got older, I loved this song even more, because as I matured, everything took on different meanings. Now, at 50, I love this song for what it did for me and how it will define moments of my life going forward.

I remember listening to this while driving home after the last day of high school. I remember driving while looking at the building and the song playing as it was leaving my line of sight. It definitely wasn’t a deeply sentimental moment but I’ll forever associate this song with that one memory in particular, it kind of feels like a movie scene in retrospect
@jovanialvarez93102 жыл бұрын
the song overall is just late 90's - early 2000's nostalgia. The last bit of alternative music to live. A slow mellow tune with a hopeful truthful breeze to a great sadness. Music was so much better back then....

I'm at that point now where you were 3 years ago all because of a woman that I'm deeply and dearly in love with that is 5,000 miles away from me in the little country of Romania. She knows exactly how much that I'm in love with her and I know the love she has for me. The love that every human being dreams of. Her circumstances of her life continues to draw her away from me just as my very own circumstances draw me away from her. She's a supermodel to 300,000 men all around this world who have so much to offer her then I do financially. I have this deep gut feeling that she will eventually leave me high and dry one day. My gut feelings always become reality and so afraid this gut feeling I've been having about her will become true too one day too and I'm sinking into the deepest darkness depression of my life. She is becoming someone that she is not over in her country. If my gut feeling becomes a real and true reality I will not want to continue my life without her 💔 this is my song about her & I

It's difficult to find proper words to describe the magic of this song. I heard it in a passing back in early 2000s. Yes, only 2000s, because I grew up in Eastern Europe, didn't have internet, you could find maybe one or two copies of The Bends in your city, which cost 10% of mom's monthly salary. Good music wasn't something you could easily have. Pirated CDs everywhere, but they didn't even pirate Radiohead. And then you hear this masterpiece. It's so special, it's so beautiful. Still is, after all this time :)

Having turned 28 on 12/17 a few days ago and have heard the song throughout my life especially during the late 90s. As a young kid listening to bands like the Doors, Jimi Hendrix, and Pink Floyd in the backseat of Dad's Lincoln town car We would visit my grandpa in Redford Michigan every summer I'd stay and spend time over there. (I loved not wearing a seatbelt, Dad would fly down I96 back towards the Ambassador bridge from Wayne county and I'd be laughing and smiling all the way as we ripped at speeds of 150mph with the music cranked "Welcome to the Machine" batting out from the vehicle. In Leamington, We would go to the beach and frequent our swimming spot daily. And bands like Vertical Horizon and Nirvana, Radio Head Oasis would always be playing on the radio. There's a certain nostalgia that comes to mind from that period in my life even so later in my senior years in high school after meeting my high school sweetheart, now separated kids mother. Losing a dear best friend from a terrible canoe accident. We eventually grew apart once our friend passed and thus the trials and subtle beauty in moments we shared could and would make a great movie on young teenage angst and love and loss and the power of overcoming difficult hardships to come full circle after years of silence. Great song and great music move spirit to other dimensions and places beyond the practical world we live in. Thanks and Cheers.

The rapture is imminent , it could happen any moment . The bible has no lies it is the full and only word of God . Jesus Christ is the truth, the way the life ,and the light when the rapture will happen , Hundreds of millions of young children and Born again Christians will disappear in the twinkling of an eye . Mass disappearance, and will the left behind people believe Satan who will make the world tell you it was an alien invasion or some other lie or will you believe the truth which is that Born again Christians and young children under the age of accountability have all disappeared off the face of the earth from this life into next (heaven) to forever be with our Lord God and Saviour , Yeshua Hamashiach ( Jesus Christ) God the son , at the right hand of God the father , God the Holy Spirit (the restrainer mentioned in the bible ) will take us away from earth to heaven like an elevator . We worship One God. One lord , one diety. One triune God, father son and Holy Spirit . Jesus Christ is the only mediator between man and God , salvation happens as follows . Faith in Jesus Christ(the gospel , 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, John 3:16, Romans 3:23, etc) -Recieve the Holy Spirit, eternal life forgiveness of sins by Jesus Christ blood by faith alone not by our righteousness or good deeds , -Holy Spirit within us is sealed our salvation can not be lost - when we die or a raptured we do not die in our sins . They are covered by Jesus Christ blood since we had faith in Jesus Christ /the gospel. Those who don’t have faith in Jesus Christ will come before God , and every single thought(sinful or not), word (sinful or not) action(sinful or not ) imagination (sinful or not ) intention(sinful or not ) every moment in their life will come before them and God , God will show them the truth , who he is what they did wrong and what they could’ve done . There will be no excuse , Those heading to hell rejected God by not having faith in Jesus Christ . You cannot have God if you don’t first have faith in Jesus Christ .

I'm a big fan of both bands. Been to both concerts in the same year. I would say Radiohead's content is better than Coldplay's while Coldplay's live performance was better than Radiohead's. You can listen to Coldplay everyday but not to Radiohead's. You have to be in a mood for a Radiohead binge listening but when you're at it YOU'RE AT IT.

@kasmene743 жыл бұрын
I was in my early 20s when this song came out. Years before I went to a concert where REM were performing, the Radiohead was the opening band and I was blown away. At that time I was an university student with many dreams in the drawer, along with some CDs and those stupid and useless things that we usually put in them. I was studying Medicine hoping to replenish that bag full of expectations that my parents (all doctors in the family) had but I was often restless and distracted. I remember the scent of the women I was with, that of the weed I used sometimes to smoke, the noise of street vendors and the news talking about the many deaths because of the MAFIA. The 90s were really hard for us Sicilians and still are. Today I am 47 years old, I lived in different countries in Europe and not only, I am not a doctor (I decided to quit 😊) and today I work as a manager in the IT world. I am since years with a woman who looks like a gift from heaven and in a few days I will be a father of a boy whose name will be that of my father to whom I owe, despite the disappointments given, everything and who never left me alone in my path . I hope I can teach my son how important music is in our life, because it not only fills the soul but it has that magical power to make you travel back and relive everything with open eyes. Radiohead is and always will be my favorite band and when I listen to a song like this I turn twenty and suddenly a smile mix of sweetness, sadness and joy colors my face (sorry for my English :D )
