Colin Greenwood is the perfect bassist for Radiohead. Take a straightforward chord progression like that which is heard in “Creep”. Just like this song with a slightly more complex progression; he sauces it up enough to keep things interesting and fills space when needed, all without overplaying or losing sight of structure. He’s been a massive influence on my bass playing journey.

Colin is the king of structure and rhythm, and can make his parts melodically interesting too. his writing is just perfect all round.

His basslines with Tamino are also superb. I'd recommend listening to "Indigo Night" to hear the magic of Colin.

I can never decide whether to watch your fingers or the tabs because I find them both intriguing. Whenever I watch someone playing an instrument I seem to experience the song more intensely. I'm using this method to get into classical music, which I always struggled to enjoy. By watching live performances on DVD I'm beginning to appreciate classical more. I CANNOT stomach violins recorded in the studio! I have to watch an actual live performance. The difference in tone is pronounced. Live violins are much more full-bodied and gutsy than the thin, piercing sound I hear on studio recordings.
