Unique and ethereal. ‘The album’ as pure art form. Every song to be starred. This is a complete album as a piece of music - all flowing, all encompassing, even Treefingers serves its purpose and is necessary to the experience. It also only grows more in rich texture and melody, emotion and hidden meaning over the years. It’s still mesmerising me after 24 years of regular listens.
@kirkwarburton22772 ай бұрын
They censored lyrics! Or made a shoddy mistake. The Morning Bell lyric is “Cut the kids in half” - NOT ‘“Got the kids in here”. Most likely a metaphor referring to divorce.
@neoawokeАй бұрын
Thom Yorke himself said it wasn't lol, but he also said the divorce interpretation wasn't wrong either so it's fine to belive that it, but really it's just another weird Thom Yorke lyric lol.
@kirkwarburton2277Ай бұрын
I suppose it just tends to mean that to me because of my personal experience as a child. That’s another element of Radiohead that’s so great, with Thom’s method - especially the cut and paste method he used for KidA - you can interpret it as how it means most to you.

This is the best album ever made. It is endlessly re-listenable. Idioteque is easily one of the band’s three best songs. Fun facts: they did no promotion for the album and released no singles and led the record company to believe they were committing career suicide. It debuted at number one anyway. The only promotion they did was a website that had the whole album, the first where you could stream music. They’ll still be listening to this one 100 years from now.

The lyrics can only distract you on a first listen, it makes you read and wait and anticipate and you see what follows trying to fit it in beforehand.... When you watch a film you don't ask for the script, do you? If I were you I'd save the lyrics for tomorrow. About the first song: Tom York wrote the song after the ‘OK Computer’ tour, he was exhausted, tired, stressed, with a heavy load of feelings and excesses. Alliteration: the repetition of elements in a composition (poem, song, painting), in this case the lyrics and instrumentation, are intended to represent chaos/obsessions and the need to bring order to his life. The time tablature is variable, which adds more chaos to the song. It's a mix of 6/4 and 4/4 or in a simple way a 10/4: it's not a one two three four / four times, like a normal pop song! But wait, the drum bass kicks a ‘four to the floor’ as in a 4/4 song! More chaotic? IDK in the rest of the world but in Spain cocktails are presented with a slice of fruit in the glass. ‘Yesterday I woke up sucking on a lemon’ means only one thing to me: the night was so wild as f*ck that I just can't remember it. If I love Radiohead is because they are not normal. They are genius and their songs grabs you by the (put here a part of your body) and throws you where they want you to be in the mood they want you to feel.

Pablo Honey has great vocals, excellent drumming, nice bass parts, some nice grooves, but its production (which is also not a complete disaster) means in comparison it sounds like a demo tape. But this is only in comparison to the rest of their albums, If you compare Pablo Honey to Nirvana's Nevermind or Green Day's Dookie, then you would not think it such a bad album at all.

Same with Idioteque. “Here I’m alive” instead of I’m allowed. The first of the children is also wrong, it’s “And first and the children.” I’d recommend Apple over Spotify, it is cheaper. It has lossless, hi-res, and Dolby, and they also pay the artists more than Spotify. Just a better experience overall and it’s super easy to transfer playlists over with an app.
