Please go down the Radiohead rabbit hole, you will NOT be disappointed! Probably the most original band of the 90s. Check out Let Down, Karma Police, Paranoid Android, Fake Plastic Trees, and Idioteque for a nice assortment of their varied styles.

Most original and diverse band of the last three decades, in my opinion. My picks for getting fully submerged in the Radiohead universe: Videotape, Kid A, Motion Picture Soundtrack, Glass Eyes, Staircase, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, Scatterbrain, Present Tense, Spinning Plates, Give Up The Ghost, Myxomatosis, The Tourist and Bulletproof... I Wish I Was.

He's re-enacting muddled versions of a few Grimm's fairytales, like the 7 League Boots, but not exactly, and the Juniper Tree, but not exactly. He wanted the video to feel like a Grimm's fairytale. He also incorporated stuff from a kids show he used to like as a kid. I think that's where the little humanoid animals are from. Radiohead videos are often only peripherally related to the song, at best.

As with a lot of songs by Radiohead, I don't think there is one "correct" interpretation of the lyrics. I like to think of them like musical mood rings, that change colour depending on how the listener is feeling. My advice, just let the music twine itself around your mind, and lead you to wherever feels right. One thing is for sure, Radiohead are like a fine wine, they have just got better and better with the passing years. You should check out the video Weird Fishes/Arpeggi (From the Basement) next. The Basement sessions are a great live showcase for the musical genius that is Radiohead.

Radiohead is the most amazing band around. They push the boundaries of what rock and music is and they have evolved their sound album to album more than most any other band around. So I would HIGHLY recommend going back to The Bends and react to the hits from that then proceed in order. You'll understand them a lot better if you do that. Try "Fake Plastic Trees", "My Iron Lung", and "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" from The Bends next. Peace from SF

Radiohead are another band who are intensely difficult to narrow down to one genre. Their song 'creep' from their first album was insanely popular so much so the band almost reinvented themselves to just force people to move on and that manifested in their third album 'OK Computer', which is a musical masterpiece, this kinda caused a new cycle, so they innovated again to a new sound and new sound and new sound with successive albums. All the comments from people asking you to explore the rabbit hole is so you can appreciate that growth, I would advise perhaps check out 'Ok Computer' followed by 'Kid A' as albums , to see the change in course/direction over the years. P.s. Muse (another successful British band) were often unfairly called a Radiohead tribute band in their early days They have one style in comparison, they broadly stuck to it pretty much but it's a really good style too.

You won't 'figure' this one out, certainly not in one go. It has layers of meanings & references, to old folk tales, children's fairy stories. Its origins go back a loooong way. It'll stick with you, whether you like it or not. Which is one of the requirements of Art.

Often with Radiohead the lyrics are open to interpretation they are masterful at setting a tone or mood to evoke a certain emotional response sometimes his vocals are more like another instrument sometimes not it goes on a song to song basis if I had to compare them to another band not based entirely on sound or style it would be the Beatles their musical journey has been somewhat similar if you are in to music theory the way they construct music is stellar I cant think of another band that gets covered more by jazz and even classical musicians try them I think you will really dig them.

i interpreted differently, although i like yours better. i took it as a fear to engage with other people, or break out from yourself, and how harmful that fear is eg: "in pitch dark i go walking in your landscape, broken branches trip me as i speak" would be meeting somebody for the first time, and feeling uncomfortable and lost because of it "there's always a siren singing you to shipwreck. to steer away from these rocks, we'd be a walking disaster", along with the "don't reach out" backing vocals is more self explanatory; stick to what you're familiar with, don't let yourself be fooled by new people, they're sirens (mythological creatures that lured sailors to their deaths with their music and by singing) but during the choruses, the voice switches from the cautious, hesitant character to a more calming voice; "just because you feel it doesn't mean it's there." then, finally, although this i'm not so confident about, the main character finally does reach out. "we are accidents waiting to happen" might be the narrator acknowledging that even if it does fall through due to their struggle to socialize and reach out, then at least they'll be accidents together. that's my take, anyway

There is not one interpretation, but to me it's about being tempted by something misleading and potentially harmful. like for instance thinking on cheating on your partner because you think you have something with another person, but ending up in a meaningless relationship while destroying your current one.The sirens, the branches that trip him, they are all traps from his mind that lead him to believe in something that ends up harming him.

its 50% what you said about thinking your happy but not really being happy and the other 50% is the danger of believing in illusions an example being how they looked like they were living a happy life in the tree but the tree is probably a dead person like what happened to thom yorke at the end

The 1996 live performance of this is a truly intimate and far more powerful version for me at least and you don't get that off-putting guitar dissonance like in the studio version, which I personally don't think was necessary because this song is something amazing when you take away all the studio overprocessing.

a main theme in thom yorke's lyrics is cynicism about how trustworthy the world and the people in it are and how utterly disappointed he is in his previous naivety/ trust in thinking otherwise.... you see him targetting people with lyrics on pablo honey and the bends. then you see him target technology/ industry on ok computer. then you see him finally question the world/ existence itself on kid a and amnesiac. he was too overwhelmed by this that he reverted back to targetting people on hail to the thief, in order to pretend he had a smaller problem. but he finally admits its all a lie on in rainbows and his lyrics from then on seem to be resisting enemies he doesn't want to believe are real but are... the way thom is walking is suggesting he is overly paranoid (main theme in his lyrics). he walks though the woods and sees creatures having normal, enjoyable experiences that he is not having. when he makes a choice to do something he wants, it happens to be one that was a trap setup for him....... he can't win.
