Great run Steve. A thermo shut-off's annoying, but better than buying a new ESC.

Just use a hobbywing 1060 and be done with it I say.

That’s why I like the hobbywing 1040, 1060 and 1080. They rarely fail, I can program them, and fill on bash on a 100 degree day and they don’t cut out

Yes all the kyosho fazer rc's use this motor and a 1060 esc with no problems, even my other buggies with this same chassis use a 1060 no over heat problems ever.

Those internal fans on the 550's are worth their weight in gold. That esc may have some fine print requirements for a fan.

Yes these kyosho 14T 550 motors are awesome! I run the hobbywing 1060 esc's they are my go to brushed esc I never had problems with them like this, this thing just runs way hotter. Thanks for looking.
@HaydadRC3 ай бұрын
The esc didn’t seem to like that cover not allowing cooling airflow! Nice test Steve!👍😊
@ShenRC3 ай бұрын
Yeah no esc does but the HW 1060 don't ever have any problems this thing runs hot as heck. Thanks HD
@AddamsPlayground3 ай бұрын
Kind of surprising for a 90amp esc. I am sure the 1060 would have done well and the 1080 would have never had an issue. To be fair those closed up compartments on the TS chassis and similar are not the kindest to them for cooling and airflow.
@ShenRC3 ай бұрын
Yeah never had this with a 1060 and most all buggies have bodies so sealed tight the esc's never get air flow on them.. Heck I have 1060 in three of these chassis with 550 motors with no problems and all kyoshos brushed cars use the kyosho 14T550 motors and they all have 1060's and they never overheat the esc's in them ones also? Like with everything specs don't mean nothing because you can never tell if they are correct or true? Thanks Addam.

Great drift rig... Wonder if there's sufficient air flow under that clear plastic cover to pull heat from your ESC?
@ShenRC3 ай бұрын
Probably not but my same chassis buggies I have the hobbywing 1060 and I never had a overheat problem. 1060 is better.

LOL 1st rc car to send an SOS. The plastic cover is restricting air flow, but I prefer Hobbywing the Tamiya version a little better.
@ShenRC3 ай бұрын
Yes but 1060's don't never over heat in this same chassis?
@BasBoyRC3 ай бұрын
@@ShenRC I have one of these ESC and it does not say in the manual motor limit of volts and these are meant to run up to 18v Lipo. All I can think a defected ESC or they are crap. The one I have will be going in a crawler so not an issue.
@ShenRC3 ай бұрын
@@BasBoyRC Yes they run hot, I think everyone who gets these just don't want to say anything bad about it in fear of not getting anymore free products from radiolink. Not me it did not work good so I tell it as it is even if I got it sent in for free!

I bought a 550 to put in a DF-03 but it won't fit. So I put it into my Blackfoot! Looks like you need air flow on that ESC.
@ShenRC3 ай бұрын
Weird why did it not fit? Never need airflow with the 1060 in this same chassis? This one runs hot. Thanks
@Houleigan3 ай бұрын
@@ShenRC The Outside diameter is bigger than the spot for the motor on the chassis.
@ShenRC3 ай бұрын
@@Houleigan That's weird, maybe pop off the extra metal ring they sometimes put on these 550 motors and it may fit? That is if yours had one snapped around the motor can/
@Houleigan3 ай бұрын
@@ShenRC No, the can is just fatter on this motor. It's some off brand I got from surplus hobbies.

I don't know it seems to run hot, I seen poor boys RC had the same problem with his. Probably good for crawlers and mild motors I am guessing. Thanks

The ESC needs a fan and covering it with a piece of plastic doesn't help any.

I use the hobbywing 1060 esc's in this same chassis never have any over heating problems, it is sealed up pretty good but even a buggy with a body only on don't let air flow 1060's never failed me!
