Awesome build brother! Fellow Army Vet - OEF 2002 82nd Airborne. I have really enjoyed watching your videos and the progress on your 300 gal reef. To prove my level of interest, I watched the first video of this series last night around 2200...lol. You do a really good job! I have been out of this hobby since 2003 or so and am ready to get back into it. Spending some time getting caught up with the new technology and refreshing my knowledge. I bought the first generation of a Life Reef system (sump and skimmer). Keep it going. Look forward to buying some frags from ya.

I had my black boxes for over two years and so far so good! This video is exactly proof that overpriced product doesn’t guarantee high quality, it does fail but maybe lesser chances.

I have the AI HD Prime and I noticed if you don't take out that little screen that lets in ventilation and clean it from time to time and it gets plugged up with dust your lights will not function properly I take those out once a month and I clean them really nice and put them back I don't know about radians but if that ventilation is not working properly them lights can fail my lights also were blinking kind of strange but as soon as I clean that vent that all went away never had a problem again

You are located in Pennsylvania? I thought in the US the warranty is just one year. I was reading of a issue with a MP40qd, the guy didn’t get a replace after one year.

My new g5 xr30 had the same problem. They really need to work on their QC. Kicked on for 5 secs then off...

I understand that the environment this equipment works in is one of the harshest you can create for electronics so Ecotech gets a little liberty there. However these are some of the most expensive lights on the market essentially, one would hope you were getting the best quality. You can get lights a lot cheaper that have a 25% failure rate in two years.

Hey man, does al lot of your water get lost because of evaporation, or does your canepy take away that problem?

I have check on them and they do not get dirty inside the canopy

Sounds like the fan died. That may not be the issue but I do know from experience that if the fan dies then the light will not power on for more than a few seconds. Also check the connection on the board by the fuse where the power supply plugs into the board. I had one that had a connection issue

So I tried to do a reset, but it did not seem to work. I pressed the center button for over 10 seconds, then all three buttons for over 10 seconds, then the two outer buttons for over 10 seconds. Nothing. I wanted to increase the intensity of the linked light, and when I did that, the G4 15XR turned on. Not sure if this happened as they were connected, or because 30 seconds past from the reset attempt. At least it works now. The next day, the red light came back. I unplugged the power, then found a micro USB cable that connected to the Connection Manager. This seems to have fixed the issue for today lol

Its that the way to reset the unit? My xr 15 runs ok, but in the next morning it doesnt turn on, bliks red buttons. But if i unplug and reconect it to power its workshop fine, but in the next morning, red blikking buttons again. White can it Be ?

I wouldn’t buy anything ecotech. Just ain’t worth the price when you expect high quality. In Australia, the distributor has no idea and as a first response would say no in the first instance to fix or replace the equipment to avoid costs. This is against the law in Australia but the distributor still tries to pull a fast on those that don’t know the law. For those that don’t know in Australia, if Aqua Blue tries not to fix your ecotech, complain to the accc and department of consumer rights, by law they should fix it upwards of 3 years, even more depending on the price relative to its peers. Otherwise spend your hard earn money on a company that will service you better like Dalua. Keep in mind that ecotech spends a lot on advertising and social media influencers so you are just paying for advertising and not the actual product.

Equipment that costs as much as ecotech’s equipment costs it should last a lot longer than 2 years. Our hobby is riddled with manufacturers make equipment that doesn’t last very long

Look into the Italian GNC LEDs or any other passively cooled option that can withstand humidity. :)

They are called Mono Argenteus and are usually sold as brackish water fish. Travis has acclimated these to saltwater.

The fact that it turns on and then off after about 10 seconds tells me that it has something to do with either the thermal control or power control. Its probably not reading correctly or at all so it shuts off to save itself. If you lose another one on that side of your tank, id take a good long hard look at your source power and airflow

Have mine for 5 years. Do u ever blow out the crap in the fans? That’s the secret to longevity in any light.

Definitely downside of Reefing.. it took me at least 4-5 days to get mines up and running. Between dealing with lap top and the app on my smart phone ,after setting the program dam near 20xs. It had a mind of its own. Late at night it will come on full power. Top light was steady white. Had to call ecotech tech support 2xs. They had to actually reset the fixture from there home office.

Check connection in back of light. Might be loose. Or you may have a exposed wire corroded. Best if under warranty to get it out of there, fire hazard. Can't they build to last.....oh wait why do that, then they make no money......

My last build had 4 black boxes and regardless of how well they might last they got nothing on the spectrum quality of radion. Two fully stocked sps reef tanks and id go with radions every time

The lighting setup on the 300 gallon is just under $4000 and i have paid for it 5 times over with the amount of frags sold from that tank alone. Much better growth and coloration from the radions.

These lights are garbage. I bought 2 xr15 pro gen5. They were not working. They were DOA. I bought it because BRS said it was the best lighting on earth. Apparently they were wrong.

FADETOBLACK there are tons of American made products that fails! For example, look at the domestic cars.... if you’re disagreeing that means either you don’t own one, lucky or denying the facts!

@@c4snipar bottom line the radians are not even worth close to 800 bucks.. and in my opinion are cheap build Chinese product. go to the forums they have a high percentage of dissatisfied customers. Not for making the reef look beautiful. But longevity.. stay on topic.
