Viju Shah is a genius who gave a fresh break from the otherwise mundane composers of the 90s. He's remembered for superhits like Tridev, Mohra, Gupt, but what he's not remembered for was equally phenomenal music in Aar Ya Paar, RaavanRaj, Andaz Apna Apna. Rightly called the king of synth, his songs have strong recall value, be it Jaanbaaz, Tere Mere Sapne, Vishvatma and Bade & Chote Miyan. These numbers were not created for 80s or 90s, but for 50 years on.

One of the best compositions of Viju Shah is a private album called "Jaanam". It was released in 1990, one of the very early pop albums in Indian music. I was 13 years old at that time, and my "mama" had bought the cassette. I used to follow Bollywood music already, but hadn't heard of this guy called Viju Shah before that. Every song in that album was great, very catchy tunes. Of course, a lot of synthesizer and electronic sounds, which were very new at the time. Loved it then, and still love it more than 30 years later. It was a precursor of what was to come in the next few years when he became part of the mainstream Bollywood music industry.

People who are criticizing him here for copying English music. Thats absolutely rubbish and does not matter. He entertained us with his extraordinary music in late 80s and 90s. He brought in something new during that era which was never heard of before. Tridev, Mohra , Vishwatma, Gupt. He has etched his name in Golden letters with these 4 movies. Gupt's music was exceptional. I used to hear those songs repeatedly. A legend ❤.

How copying music doesn't matter. Making music is an art & a skill but copying someone else's music is not an art & skill. It's pure jugaad. Actually the fact is the Hindi music used to be good till early 2000's because till that time copyright laws were not that strong. & today copyright laws r strict that's why the quality of music is below average.
