Dr Hema Gopinathan and her husband late Dr Y Gopinathan started serving at Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital, Prasanthi Nilayam in 1998.
Dr Mrs Hema Gopinathan completed her MBBS in 1961 from New Delhi's Lady Hardinge College. She went out to complete her residency in two specialisations - internal medicine and cardiology from Cleveland Ohio in the United States.
In 1968 she completed her FRCP from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Subsequently, for 17 years she practiced as a consulting internist and cardiologist in Windsor, Ontario alongside her husband a fellow doctor.
Her husband late Dr Y Gopinathan was a medical graduate of Osmania University in Hyderabad. He pursued his further medical education at AIIMS New Delhi, Cleveland Ohio in the United States and in 1967 he earned his American diploma in surgery.
The couple ran a successful practice in their respective fields at Windsor, Ontario (Canada) for nearly two decades. All this changed in 1989 when they decided to relocate to India.
Once in India, they spent all their time serving the poor, the sick and the ailing.
In this conversation, Dr Hema provides a brief sketch of her life's journey and the important lessons Bhagawan taught her at various stages, and also how she learnt from Bhagawan the virtue of total surrender and acceptance to Divine Will.

Dr.Mrs.Hema gopinath is amazingly wonderful dr ., (so are all of the drs.nurses and staff serving at general hospital as far as I saw them) Had the blessing to be sevadal for 10 days at general hospital out patient department where I could see how nice kind and patiently listening ..dr.Hema was towards the patients.( And other drs nurses staff too treat patients with empathy ) Drs.nurses and staff are all blessed to be part of swami's mission and they are doing their best for swami.Offering pranams and gratitude to swami for choosing such wonderful drs to serve .

With Swami's blessings Doctor Y Gopinathan saved my life in 2005, when I had cancer. I came as a patient to the surgical department of the General Hospital in Puttaparthy. For 6 months Doctor Y Gopinathan with colleagues treated me with amazing love and compassion! He is the best doctor I met in my life and I always remember him with gratitude! Sairam. Qazaqstan.

I remember being in Windsor Ontario Hospital waking up and Doctor Gopinathan was in my room.I knew at that moment that I must ask Dr. Gopinathan if he would be my Doctor all the others Doctor's that came in to me were not to be my Doctor it was as if in waking up I was given a light as to who should be my Doctor and when I asked Dr. Gopinathan if he would be my Doctor he said yes. I had never seen Dr. Gopinathan before that day. A few weeks later I had emergency surgery and Doctor Gopinathan was my Surgeon. Some things are meant to be. Albert MacDonald

Life has it's moments I was thinking about Dr. Gopinathan tonight and I decided to google his name and to my surprise I came across Dr Hema Gopinathan and I remember that you had your office in the the Medical Arts Building in Windsor where your husband also had his office and where I used to go to see him some 45 years ago.
