It's part of Lisa's job. But what makes us shocked is not about her being tough, but because we get to see the Lisa that we never see before. Some people called her out for being too tough. That's why in YWY S3 she changed her way in giving critique and encouraged them instead. Here we can see that the trainees are afraid. She's tough, but I think it's part of her job as a mentor. But what's surprising is..... we never really know this side of Lisa before (which is 180° to the crackhead and bubbly Lisa we usually know as the maknae of the group)

Lisa had just a few weeks to get the girls to perform a PERFECT choreo that would be broadcast in TV and voted on. That one girl that kept messing up was counting the movement wrong, she kept adding an extra beat. On the show Lisa didn't tell her what she was doing wrong at first, she was showing her the sequence to let her do it on her own and correct herself. She finally did show her where she was messing up. Also the last girl in the video who was super energetic is Esther Yu, she's a Chinese actress and singer who wanted to be on the show. She was one of the winners and is now a member of the group THE9. She's also an obsessed Lisa fan, she's on the current season with Lisa again, her job is to assist the mentors.
@murderofcrows21793 жыл бұрын
It was obvious the trainees were already taught and practiced the coreographer. Lisa was there to clean up, but the trainees did not really have the basic choreo down, since they are off beat, timing is off, and basic lines are not understood. so how to get a group of dancers to be ready for public performance? You can't make an omolette without breaking some eggs. this is not a dance exercise class for amateurs, this is choreo for trainees trying to debut as artists. I am surprised some of them were not sent home to set a minimum standard. people asking for a softer approach, are just asking for the trainee to be humiliated and end a career before it starts. welcome to pop music industry, second prize is your not debuting with the rest of the trainees.

Becoming an idol is a competition. A real competition to get all the glory or to fail and have nothing because to become one they take you out while you're still in high school If you're not in Korea. You have no plan b or anything to fall back on if you failed. It means you have to start over and that is not good. So when you're competing to be the next big group you got to work hard and you're going against your fellow trainees that you grew up with. They're also close friends because you're in a foreign country and the only people you hang out with is them(even if you live in the country). So it is a cut throat process. This show is different from when you're actually competing to become a staple groups that will stay for years instead of like produce 101 etc. So overall , Lisa is pretty chill! Cause just imagine you come and then they just tell you. You gotta go back home, you didnt make it. After months of training.

That part about the mirror is soooo true. You learn the move by the mirror, then add the attitude by the mirror, etc, and boom your coach makes u do it without a mirror and you just lose a sense which is vision, now you have to do it by feeling and it's really confusing the first time but then you catch and feel invincible

Some of them are way too strict (just check asian ballet teachers),some of them are strict but also understanding and nice,some of them are strict when they are in teacher mode but also have friendly/motherly/fatherly approach otherwise. I think it depends on what you're studying and in which field you wanna go. My teachers in hotel management are strict because of the cutthroat business.

How can you ever truly go beyond your limits if you're not pushed to them? Lisa's training ensured precision and even though it may have been harsh, it can benefit the trainee's in more ways than one. It will motivate them to do their best in order to NOT face such harsh judgment but it will also force them to pay closer attention because she's making it so obvious something is wrong forcing the dancer to almost overthink what's wrong because of her strong attitude. Some people believe being comfortable will help you learn better, but you're comfortable below your limit and that's where Lisa doesn't want her trainee's to be.

I can totally relate to not smile, at practice. I'm a thinker, so when really focused on each move, I have my bitch face on. I only smile, if I focus on smiling. Of course easier to smile when you are confident in the choreo and your technique because les to think about. That's what hard about dancing in a way as you should focus and think about what you're doing, but it shouldn't show on your face during your performance.

I think Lisa was a good mentor. The biggest problem i think is that she has to mentor in english, and even though she is fluent it isn't easy to speak very well in a language that isnt your mother tounge nor that you speak very often. It seems hard for her to find the right words to use to express what she really means. But i still think she did very well and its impressive concidering she is Thai and is mostly used to speaking Korean

For me,lisa is a good mentor like i think its normal to be that strict as a mentor.. I remember when i was in cheerleeding our mentor was strict and we understood it bcs if you dont act strict towards the dancers they will just not do there best .. But its based on my experience tho but i think all mentors should act like this :))

She’s strict for sure but I don’t think she’s rude. The problem is that English is not her first language, and oriental languages like Thai kinda are very direct, they don’t have many like “soft” versions of phrases like we do. So for her is normal using words that for us may sound harsh

Also the girls don’t speak Korean or Thai like her, they speak Chinese so it was complicated translate everything live mixing the four languages

I like lisa mentorship cause technically when u learning a dance routine you should understand the dance itself so you can dance it properly and convey an emotion to your audience tru your body!

I love Lisa's attitude. Most of the comments of her being rude are based on when she speaks in english. But I lived in Asia and most of their "rude comments" aren't supposed to be that way, they just don't know any other way to say it. And that's something I don't see anybody talking about :c (Hope I made myself clear, English ain't my mother tongue either)

There are sensitive people in this world, any mentor in the world has to be tough for them to get it right but that technic wouldn't work for sensitive people like me, when I get screamed at I literally cry immediately but not on purpose it's automatic, they really need to show some soft side along with the harsh one which Lisa didn't fail to do

so probably entertainment career in kpop or cpop is not right for you, since being a pop star ensures that you will be target of hate every second of your life.

In dance in high school we had to perform the dance one by one and I hated it. Just doing it alone made be so nervous I completely blanked out. And then I had to explain I know the dance and I really did practice I’m just nervous having everyone watch me 🤦🏽♀️
