I got mad respect for you taking the time to share your knowledge and continue to make information more easily accessible. A lot of these cars get junked every day because people don't know how to work on them or don't want to spend hours reading forums. What you're doing is going to end up keeping a lot of cars on the road in the long run. Maybe call it something like "RAD RX-tech" or something.

Thank you sir! Just trying to keep people's cars rippin! Anyone can drop "junk" rotary cars off at my house anytime haha. I can always use more parts

Hey dude, I am really enjoying your vids! we have a huge rotary scene in New Zealand. I have a series 1 with a 12a Bridgeport. The drum brakes are horrible especially for New Zealand roads, I have just bought some adapter plates that should allow me to run FB discs and Honda da6 calipers and still fit 13" wheels. This should all mount to the standard s1 axle. Learning heaps from your videos keep it up!

Would love to see those adapter plates. Who make them?

So, i just picked up a nice little 85 gs, and i got a t5 trans and am picking up a 350 to throw in it, BUT until then, i can throw all the 84-85 gsl or gsl-se lsd rear ends on it?

I am new to the rx7 swapping life... but i just bought a 79sa Rx7 and a 90fc Rx7, i would like to swap as much from the 90 to 79 as possible. I saw your video on the front suspension, and now this video, but what about the rear diff and suspension from the 90rx7?

So there is a writeup on doing the entire FC rear subframe swap into a First gen. But i think its more work than its worth. A lot of cutting

appreciate the video. i just bought a 1980, and want an LSD with disc brakes and keep the 4x110 original wheels. im hearing i should find a pre-84 GS LSD axle or pumpkin, and i can get discs using adapter plates? i cannot use any gslse parts if i want to keep my wheel pattern? and what is this i read about mx5 torsen diffs.

I got 1983 Mazda RX 7 12A GSL. Trying to figure out my passenger side axle has no play left to right but my driver axle in the rear has a little play left right I know I have posse traction I am also thinking limited slip axle ..Never really never seen this movement on the wheel with … Not sure if they’re missing a clip to hold the axle in place in the rear end or if the bearing is bad and but they are original… Any thoughts on this driver side rear axle moving left to right about a half inch

I have an 1985 open rear end and have done some research on putting an lsd in. what I found is that 97-2002 miata third member pumkin will bolt right in, was wondering if you can confirm this or not

Hey man awesome channel and very informative. Wondering if you know anything about putting a Ford 8.8 Rear end into an 85 GS? Mainly as far as mounting goes and if there is anything I need to know that could be of importance? Just curious
@TheJTK1234 жыл бұрын
Also curious if you know roughly how much HP the stock GS Rear could handle comfortably? Including the Axle? Maybe just ball park.
@RADPotential4 жыл бұрын
Stock rx7 axles i would say comfortably 250 to 300 wheel. I will be doing an 8.8 or 9 inch in my next build right after the rally car. Also doing design currently on an 8.8 swap kit as far as mounts go
@TheJTK1234 жыл бұрын
@@RADPotential thanks for the reply. I also just read about a Toyota 8 being pretty easy to do and is close to the same length as the stock gs and also weighs less. Any thoughts on this? I think they're all drum though. Not sure
@RADPotential4 жыл бұрын
I plan to run disc's. These chassis aren't really built for 7 or 800 horsepower like a more modern car. Anything close to 4 or 500 would be plenty. I think that would be a viable option. Drums or disc would be your preference
@TheJTK1234 жыл бұрын
@@RADPotential yea my goal is initially is going to be close to 400HP and probably work my way up toward 500 at some point max. Doing a 5.3 LS but I'm just trying to familiarize myself with rear end options as this is quite new to me

@RAD Potential is the gslse rear end longer than a 85 gs with drum brakes. I'm running flush fit of 15x8 with +20 wheels and im going to swap the gslse rear end. I heard they are 10mm longer on both ends.

I believe you are correct. I can measure for you.

i heard something about being able to bolt up a 7" miata lsd into a later fb. is that actually possible? looking for a lsd but not finding much but can find miata parts everywhere. i know people swap turbo 2 stuff into their miatas but dont know if i could keep my stock pumpkin and housing and run a different internal pack from the miatas
@RADPotential4 жыл бұрын
I am not sure if the pumkin is a direct fit, i would venture no other wise I would know of it. Being able to use the torsen pumpkin would be common knowledge. The LSD unit however could potentially be able to bolt into the big bearing ring gear. So 84 to 85
@potymouf14 жыл бұрын
RAD Potential I had bought a Toji super limited slip Miata rear end pack like where the crown mounts for 200 bucks and I’m going to try to put the stock gear on it and put it in the third member. I’ll tell you if it works.
@RADPotential4 жыл бұрын
Awesome. I think just the pinion length/flangr and the third member casting is different for the miata. But the ring gear is the same diameter
