The Fd does something that is just magical. I parked my 99 up outside the train station in my hometown in the uk. What really makes me smile is the people that stopped to take photos of it even in the dark were kids and teenagers that were not even born when they were out. It becomes a legend all over again every decade. Myself included, I saw my first ever yellow Fd at a car show and it just blew me away. All of its small problems, fragile door pockets and creaky plastics etc even the sequential turbos, are just what sets these cars apart from everything else you can roll up to a show in with everyone else. Great content btw

Value really is only important to whoever has their hands on the wheel and feet on the pedals. I know my '04 RX8 GT in red probably wouldn't draw more than four grand market. But I've owned it since '12 with 7800 miles, and after 10 years and 50000 miles of my own making... To me it's worth five times that. Keep up the great videos man!

Always wanted one but could never afford one, went to go check one out at a small dealer and had obvious signs of being in a pretty hard bender (even though salesman didnt want to admit it) and still wanted it, leaking oil and everything but they wouldnt budge on the 15k price. It was literally a heartbreak every time i had to walk away from a deal (i almost bought a roller so i bought a block and headlights and the car deal fell through) so i settled on a FB and owned it for 9 years. End of quarantine i found one after saving for years for pre-inflation prices post inflation with a built engine and reliability mods already done, fresh paint, and weight reduction (i mean the interior is almost complete, no one looks inside when youre taking it for a spin anyway). This is my forever car, you buy one because you love the car and deal with the baggage and hiccups. My neighbors friend is a known DJ in LA and brought him over to check the car out, the DJ offered to trade me for his Aventador Evo and instantly knew he was joking and just gave him a chuckle. After repeating the same line another 2 times i said to him "If we would trade, i would sell sell the lambo tomorrow and buy myself another rx7 and just pocket the change" and i was not joking about what i said one bit. I wouldnt pay $100k for this car, but i dont know how much i would pay, its really hard to put a price on something you've dreamt of having for so long. Love the vids brother!

K-I-L-L-I-N me! I passed on a 93' yellow twin-turbo with ~40k on the clock and they wanted $10k. I could have probably got it for $8k cash. This was maybe 7 years ago. They had trouble selling it, I was always touching base w my buddy about it "nope hasn't sold yet". Finally one day it was gone, and I'll never forgive myself. I didn't buy it simply cause well... scrapping the money together, but also my wife would have killed me. I guess I'll never forgive her! lol

RP - RX-7 Hero! Thank the Lord for his empathy for the true spirit of these mythical beasts. These beasts are living creatures - they have heart and soul. Wonderful, also, to view a video in which someone actually takes the creature on to the open road, unleashes, and allows it to live and breathe. Long live RP.

At every RX-7 show, when you see a clean, well-kept example, it is usually CYM. The blacks, silvers, reds, etc. have all been widebodied, drifted, stanced out, etc., because people didn't think those were as rare. People preserved the CYM examples. Nowadays, I think the other colors, especially black and silver, and more rare in good condition than CYM. So those should be pricier, if rareness is the defining factor.

Thanks for the thoughts. I'm afraid the FD for me is going to have to go on the list of shelved dreams along with the Testarossa, 996, Boxster and E36 M3. All shelved for slightly different reasons.

This is one of those cars where the design and mechanicals go hand in hand think xke (e type to the rest of the world), plenty of them made, affordable in their day, kick yourself cause you are buying at the wrong time. The fd is very desirable for the hp gains that can be made in the right hands, however for all the modified bodies out there, no one has improved how it looks, in my opinion anyway

Thank you for actually doing a video on a guy that built not bought his car. Can't really tell though I think (at least you built yours?)like No it won't let you drive like a vette with the same weight and 3x the HP. But it will reward you if you build it yourself in ways a vette just is never possible! $100k for one without a 20b swap and 700hp....that's Cali boy bullshit tech money overhype like the dumb money for Supra's! Bro, an FB is like a solid axle 240z Miata before the time(arguably better imo) I have a MINT 85' FB sport with an Atkins built 12a in it and it's a 100hp 100mph "fun on roads but takes longer than my old Volvo 240dl to get to 60! and will turn you around almost as fast as a 80's 911 turbo An FC GTU N\A is like going from a 240z to a 300zx compared to the FB first try! It's less oversteer happy but still a great platform in N\A "mega street port and header and all the manufacturer's defects like the thermal pellet fix and pre-mix and functionally progressive 6-ports(fixes the "they have no torque" bs statement feel's like a nice 90's non Vette catfish or a ws6 firebird. I can't find the limit's of grip on the public roads and I live in the state with the less KZbin hyped bullshit road like "tail of the wrecked everything dragon" called the "pig trail". Look up the Ferrari "crescent" cup and the yearly Porsche club of America meeting in the same town. Got more people around a 356 Porsche with original 80yo owners, my FB I just parked to look at all the 50 ae and 918 in martini livery before it launched than any gt2\3 in the sea of 911 and one lone 928! Porsche people and like Beechcraft Bonanza pilot's. They're either cool af or total tools. The Ferrari people are the best. They'd bring their continental GT's and flying spurs and R8 v10plus drop tops when they were one of 2 in the nation and tell any kid that showed interest if they wanted to sit in the things! I mean, 430 Scuderia's and Spyker C'8's and GTR's when they were new. The people in the Ferrari club were awesome until a son took over or something and now we just have vette, Porsche, VW, classic, and the z club of KC comes down on occasion. If you read this far your reward is that all 6-port rotary's with the smog pump taken off and the stock exhaust replaced with a header, lost the vacuum for the 6 ports. If you leave the smog pump unhooked from the intake and tap into the large smog vacuum line with a same size a same as the nipple on the 6 port manifold. The ports will open almost identically to stock and you can help dispel the "but they got no tork Boyd" myth. My heavily modded 88' GTU is able to have the ac on and still pull away on flat ground like it's a normal car. actually better than any civic especially the high performance ones I've driven. Have a great life! Just remember, "NEVER LS swap an RX-7" Satan will save a special spot for you I hear!

Once modified it is not a 100k car. Only the ones 100% bone stock with exceptionally low miles will demand that value, regardless of trim, color, and year.

repainted, non-original bumpers, mods? i think it will be an amazing ride for the eventual buyer, but the cars that go for silly-money are fueled by speculation. i don't see speculators driving up the purchase price of this specimen. the buyer will be an rx-7 lover. Good.
@Travis-guy-2472 жыл бұрын
Is the FD RX-7 worth $100k? From an owner: Absolutely not. I love my FD, it's the best thing I ever bought. But if you pay $100k for one, you need to be checked into a psych ward. Another point to add: The bubble really seems to be bursting on JDM cars in general nowadays. Idk about the US, but here in the UK these cars went crazy over Covid, but prices have pretty much been stagnant for the last 18 months. I wouldn't even consider them investments right now, the market doesn't look good. There's a clean FD with good compression online that just sold, but was sitting unsold for ages at £17k ($19k USD).
