Was surf fishing the other day down here in Melbourne and there was a guy named Charlie who was using that rig and the only one catching fish! We got to talking and I mentioned this video and he knew exactly who you were because he watches Rad Reeling also. He ended up giving me his rig because he was leaving and then I caught a few whiting and blues! Great informative video JC

Caught my first pompano the other day while mackerel fishing the jetty’s. Someone caught three pomp’s on golden gotcha plug. So they were feeding close to the surface .

I Rig For Flounder Like that #3 , Only I just use a weight and out a swimbait or curly tail grub on The Hook About 10 inches above the Weight on that loop , Works pretty good ,kinda like drop shotting in a way ,Flounder will..attack it No doubt

Is there a season, or conditions that you wouldn’t use this method? I used pomp rigs and fish bites this February in Destin and caught some but thought adding this to the program might increase productivity while fighting the boredom of watching rod tips bend with the surf.
@RadReelingFishing Жыл бұрын
I think in your case it's worth a try. I've never fished with surf rods and live or dead bait for Pompano, people in SW Fl do though. I always catch them with the jig and teaser rig.

Why use a jig instead of something like sandfleas on a pompano rig with fishbites? I surf fish south Florida, so maybe it's different up north?

do you only fish on sand bottom for Pomps? what about seagrass or non-sand?

When you use a uni knot you have to cut and tie new jigs? Why not use a swivel clip?
@RadReelingFishing2 жыл бұрын
I think you mean a loop knot. my personal opinion is snap swivels add an additional element that doesn't look natural. I very rarely use snap swivels. Sometimes I use a angler power clip, That's usually only when I'm night fishing.
