Dude! I bought my first cast net about a week ago. First throw grabbed a couple of Manhattan. Next row got a Manhattan but that was cheating because there was a big ball in front of me. Everything else has been a total disaster. I have watched dozens of videos trying to explain this to me and yours is by far the clearest and easiest example of what to do. Thank you! Tim

I just learned this simple method. It took me a while to figure out his technique. One of the keys of his method is to not throw the net hard and far. Also notice how he grabs the net with his pinky and other finger, hold on to that part and let it automatically pull out of your fingers. I had to learn a different method because my new net is really heavy. Check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZ3bmJmMicRsjKcsi=IeTDgeXqr4hQbHzw

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have watched and tried to duplicate countless videos on how to cast my 6ft net and failed miserably. Until I watched your very detailed video, and you took it a step farther by explaining how to flip the lead line under to create the spin required to open the net. Every other video that I have watched, failed to point that little nugget out! I was able to throw a perfect pancake on my second try. I liked and of course subscribed. Again thanks for taking the time to create this video for us newbies.

You are welcome. Since making this video I've discovered that it works best if I grab the top area of the net with my thumb facing toward the lead lines. In other works opposite of how I grabbed the to of the net in the video.
First video I've watched where I was able to put into practice and get a full open net! It's that spinning action with your left hand that makes it happen and is what I wasn't doing from watching other videos. Great instructional video...thx!

I've perfected it some since making this video. What I've found is when you grab the net at the top, grab it with your hand in the position where your thumb would be pointing down toward the bottom of the net. That seems to work best. I hope that makes sense.

I'd recommend the EZ Cast net if you're new to cast nets It's really simple to cast has a ring you hold and cast and it will spread the net.
@RadReelingFishing5 жыл бұрын
I was thinking about trying one. What are some of the issues you have with them?
@MatthewHKnight5 жыл бұрын
@@RadReelingFishing Walmart sells the EZ Cast Net for around $45ish I can get a perfect pancake spread with one hand I got a 6 foot net that I use just for bait fish. All you do is hold the rope like you do with a normal cast net take the front part of the net and put it over this aluminum ring and with one hand you cast it. There is a KZbin video a guy did showing him using one in his back yard. His KZbin channel is The Weekend Angler if you search for ez cast net his video should be maybe the first one.

This is the technique I use but I tweak the technique a tiny bit because I'm throwing my net off a pier that's 15 ft up and over a railing. If you're in that situtation. Don't twist the net at the end of your throw. You'll over rotate every time. When you grab the lead line with your other hand take it up to the hand that is holding all the net and put it under your thumb and grab another one just like how he does. Like that I can chuck a 10ft net over the railing without it hitting the rail and 15 ft out and about 15 ft down from the pier. Release it all when your arm is parallel with the railing. There's so much hang time that by the time it hits the water it'll open up fully. You don't need the extra spin unless you are at ground level! Long story short: don't put extra spin on your throw if you are more than a few feet above the water. It's not needed. Even from a dock I don't need the extra twist and if you are really high up release earlier. You'll find the sweet spot in no time.
