This year is the year of the underappreciated rappers in groups being better than the rest. Takeoff had the best flows, lyrics and delivery on Culture 2. People were clowning him when Quavo and Offset were killing it. And Slim Jxmmi stepped out of Swae Lee's shadow on this. A lot of people thought that Swae Lee should ditch Jxmmi, but he really stepped up to show he's an equal member of the group.

To me personally I feel Swae and Slim trying achieve that Outkast Love Below\ Speakerboxx, but have that idlewild soundtrack with both of them together on it you feel me. I feel like the songs are unfinished on the first album and on Swae's, some features would do some justice and lyrics are repetitive. Slim knows where he wants to take his sound and tracks he's album was the best. Swae is trying to find his comfort zone if it's in pop or R&B, singing or rapping, Swae needed some features I can't feel like Swae can't hold a track alone just yet until he knows what he's trying to achieve in his sound.

I've always thought Rae Sremmurd's songs were really formulaic and samey. This didn't change that at all. I didn't even know what Slim Jxmmi did in the group and thought he was just some guy on the side, but what I heard from his album honestly blew me away.
