With 1 RAF Campaign already released and 2 on the way, a friend of mine suggested I made a video that explains the different codewords and slang that you may hear while playing the campaign.

Very useful thanks, I recommend doing a USAF WWII as well. During your Zemke's Wolfpack I got particularly confused by a couple, including "pills".

That's also a codeword for fuel

"Buster" is Military power without afterburner in modern aviation. "Gate" is Max throttle with afterburner.
@ReflectedSimulations11 ай бұрын
Yes, today. Back then there weren’t any afterburners so they only used buster.

I don't know if this is true of WWII, but Angles and Cherubs is only supposed to be used for friendly aircraft nowadays. You still say thousand or hundred for the enemy to prevent confusion if you miss the declare portion of the AWACS/GCI report.

Cool video and you got most of it right. Just wanted to add that I think pancake means crash landing not normal landing
@ReflectedSimulations Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I’m pretty sure the RAF used it for normal landings too.
@NPC-0013 Жыл бұрын
@@ReflectedSimulations hi yea to be honest I don’t know for sure. I’ve just seen it in war films when planes have to crash land they say on the radio going in for a pancake landing. That’s when the movie gets tense haha. But actually now I think of that it’s always been American movies which doesn’t help anything with RAF speech 🙄
@NPC-0013 Жыл бұрын
@@ReflectedSimulations aha it’s for emergency landings 😉

I would've thought the RAF would be using the Vic formation. Did they adopt the finger-four after the Battle of Britain?
@MDzmitry Жыл бұрын
Exactly that, Fighter Command modified its tactics after the BoB in 1941, including officially adopting the "finger-four" formation instead of vic by 1942.

You might want to add Rhubarb and Roadstead to the list?
@ReflectedSimulations2 жыл бұрын
There's not gonna be any of those in Beware Beware. There's a nice list of mission code names here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_RAF_code_names

Hi there I'm very interested in getting into this simulation, used play il2 1946 back in the day! Where can I get this game from & what sort of pc would I need to run it? Sorry but I'm really starting from scratch!! Any tips would be great!!
@ReflectedSimulations2 жыл бұрын
Hi! DCS is way more advanced than 1946, you'll love it. The core game is free, and it comes with a free TF-51 (training mustang). I'd advise you to download and install it for the DCS website and go from there. Once you get the hang of it, you can buy different aircraft and maps as separate modules. Whichever you like - to make them flyable. As for PC, the requirements are also on the website: digitalcombatsimulator.com
