Agreed - except I don’t love Callas. 😅 Never got why she is seen the best ever…impressive she was, sure. But the best? I just don’t see it…there is just something that I don’t like with her voice. Sutherland I like and Caballé I just adore.

Too many of them just throw the voice up and land on the note (mostly on pitch) but are far from in control of it. Marton, Nilsson, Zeani, Sutherland, Rothenberger, Cotrubas, Caballe are in control of their instrument and make it sound easy!

1. Very constricted and unbridled. 2. Beautifully controlled 3. A bit wild towards the end but decently produced 4. Natural squillo, but a bit tense 5. A bit of a mess 6. Ethereally exquisite 7. A bit open, not enough squillo 8. Lovely, throbbing vibrato. 9. A tad screamy 10. Could be cleaner, feel like the sound is a bit too metallic 11. Not bad at all 12. Good intonation 13. A bit forced but decently managed 14. Too thin for my liking 15. Beautiful use of dynamics 16. Could've done without the scooping 17. Too much vibrato, sounds unsteady 18. Great attack on the High Bb5 19. Another slight scoop but very dramatic, reverberating sound 20. Gorgeously full upper register so i can ignore the scoop. 21. Not as smooth as others, but very passionate 22. Attempts a messa di voce that isn't quite successful 23. Sounds like someone stood on the dog 24. Gentle and gorgeous 25. Strident but powerful 26. Terrific squillo 27. Takes a while to take off but impressive when it does 28. Very creamy 29. Too flat and thin, doesn't sound supported 30. Not exactly the most beautiful timbre, but excellently produced 31. I can feel the voice about to wobble 32. Meh 33. Spot on 34. Sounds excruciatingly flat to my ears 35. Not her best 36. Bit of a glitch but otherwise nice 37. Again, good attack on the note 38. Laser-like accuracy 39. Sounds a bit uncomfortable 40. Divine 41. Nice agility up to the Bb5 42. Stupendous 43. Too much vibrato, too much tension, not enough control 44. Transcendent use of dynamics and terrific intonation 45. Very bright sound, but a tad pinched 46. Great, full, ringing High Bb5 47. Acidic upper register perfect for this role 48. Very feminine but wish she had refined the dynamics a little. Feels rushed. 49. Not good 50. Close to perfection Just a bit of fun guys ;)

wish you had added Julie Andrews b-flats too! The most famous soprano on film. She did high b-flats in The Boy Friend, Poppins, Sound of Music, Star!, Victor Victoria, and live on TV as well. She was also a coloratura child prodigy in England even before she made it to Hollywood and took her away from furthering her studies in Opera in Italy. A lot of the b-flats were spectacular, and the sound forever etched in our minds.

Everybody is wrong because there are so many different voices qualities, mainley voice beauty, powerful, brilliance and squillo, vibrato, breath (fiato), expression, vocal dynamics and inflextions, vocal agility or stamina (strenght). These vocal qualities vary and depens upon the type of voice. We never should compare a dramatica soprano as Maria Callas with a light soprano, Lucia Popp, or with a spinto soprano, Renata Tebaldi. There are two more problems: first, some sopranos were chosen singing when had past their prime, such as Maria Callas, Beverly Sills, Eva Marton and Leontyne Price; and second, we see excluded some other great sopranos, among them Roberta Peters, Antonieta Stella, Dorothy Kirsten, Eileen Farrell, Magda Olivero, Gigliola Frazzoni, Anita Cerquetti, Ruth Welting, Licia Albanese, Erika Kôch, Rita Streich, Leyla Gencer, Gwyneth Jones, Martha Mödel, Frida Leider, Kirsten Flagstad, Leonie Rysaneck and so forth. Note that Galina Vishnevskay sings a very poor B-flat in Vissi d´arte and note that the longest fiato (breath) are show by Monserrat Caballe with 18 seconds and Kiri Te Kanawa with 12 seconds, and one of best vibrato, beautiful and steady, is shown by Lucia Popp. Also note that your personal taste can chose any of these sopranos, be it good or bad. We should hear every opera singer very carefully. Please forgive my bad English. Greetings,
