The reason the other guy lost is because he lacked "zanshin". It's sorely lacking in a lot of competitors. You don't just execute a technique, there's a certain attitude you have to maintain after executing the technique that tells the judges that you would be prepared for a counterattack or to execute another technique. Too many of these competitors have this lazy carefree attitude while fighting. Most of them have gotten as far as they have on pure speed and agility but aghayev clearly has a lot better zanshin even if he's losing a lot of his speed and agility. Just look at how the other guy fights his guard is always down he falls over for the slightest thing, it's ridiculous given this is world championship level. Now with all that said I do agree that he made some pretty good kicking techniques as evidenced by the fact that he got a flag for the sasori geri but as I said zanshin is one of the main criteria for judging and it's crazy how these fighters who are supposed to be the best firghters in their category from their respective nations seem to have no idea about this.

Point fight means clean technic, get close to the face/body but no full Contact. That’s why the guy who got punched went down on purpose to indicate contact to see if he can get the other guy disqualified. This rules is for all karate tournaments in general. Individual karate style have their rules, some have full contact. Karate is single art. Mix martial arts is multiple arts being used. I’ve being doing non contact and full contact karate for 20 years and cage fighting for 8 years. I hope it explains the difference from an experienced person from semi contact to full contact cage fighter
