I think I was taking the video.....i remember the video camera was not working properly, that's why the picture isn't very good..... but still a great memory. (Bill Bing) Malcolm McNabb, Chuck Findley, were also there. Maybe one more??? Can't remember...

Folks: Sr. Mendez got the pot belly as a result of the steroids he had to take to cope with his athsma. He struggled with the athma well into the 1960s before subjecting himself to the steroid treatment, performing in upwards of 120 concerts a year! In my book, he's still at the top of the heap.

Hola amigo, supe de Rafael Méndez por mi suegro, ya que él fué un gran trompetista también, de Escuinapa, Sinaloa, México, le decían "La Trompeta de Oro": Teodosio Raygoza Peraza (el Tolocho). Ahora que vaya de vaciones de verano le pondré éste video tan interesante. A lo que veo y poco entiendo, platica del problema de labio, de todos los trompetistas. De no ser por su dentadura, mi suegro seguiría tocando emulando a éste gran señor, Don Rafael Méndez. Un abrazo, y gracias por compartir!!!

How did Rafael die? I still don't know how he did. Was he old did he have health problems?

He died of a heart attack on 1981 no health problems just an unfortunate time .Truly one of. The best

Rafael Mendez died from emphysema.

I read that he got bald and fat because he would take steroids because of his health problems.
