I been watching Professional Tennis for 50 years and in my humble opinion Nadal is the best counter puncher that I have seen. His ability to absorb great shots then then open up incredible angles is truly amazing. Everyone has a plan until he hits that impossible shot!

Australian open is always making Nadal have brutal matches, damn. 2009 verdasco and federer, 2012 federer and djokovic, 2014 wawrinka, 2017 dimitrov and federer, 2020 kyrgios and thiem
@quibquab17314 жыл бұрын
2014 Wawrinka? No big 4 member. Realistically they are all usual opponents u need to play to win a slam, it's just that Federer/Djokovic wouldn't get taken to 5 by someone like Verdasco or Dimitrov.
@quibquab17314 жыл бұрын
@zakaria djouzi Yes and Nadal faced Wawrinka in the final. Nadal avoided Djokovic, he got a good draw. And no, Verdasco was not top 5, not at all. His highest rank was no7. He would've lost in straight sets to Federer had they played realistically. 2017 his draw was far easier than Federers ( Berdych, Nishikori,Wawrinka and Nadal). 2020 he did get a tough draw. But aside from that all the other draws are no harder than a usual draw.
@quibquab17314 жыл бұрын
@zakaria djouzi so, Wawrinka defeating Djokovic doesn't make him harder than Djokovic. That's like saying Federer FO 2009 was the tough because he beat the guy who beat the king of clay?? Djokovics draw was obviously worse, he faced Wawrinka 4th round and would have had to play a big 4 member is the final. Nadal matches up worse against Verdasco, he would've been beaten in straight sets by Fed. Fed has never lost to Verdasco, Nadal has numerous times to prove my point.He was not top 3 caliber, please, are you serious? Nadals draw is AO 2014 was standard, as was his AO 2009, his AO 2017 wasn't even that bad. Dimitrov, really????? That's the toughest opponent? A guy who was beaten in straight sets in round 4 of Wimbledon that year by Fed. Please, what are you talking about lol. You knows what was a tougher draw? Nadals AO 2012 draw, far tougher than any draw you've mentioned. 2017 Raonic sucked, he was injured all year. Berdych had a far better year. Get your facts straights. Raonic best result was Wimbledon, where he was destroyed by Federer??? And Federers Wimbledon 2017 draw was considered easy.
@quibquab17314 жыл бұрын
@zakaria djouzidude what u say makes no sense. I can't be arsed to argue with a guy that's saying that having to beat Wawrinka a Federer is a hard draw, yes it's hard but you should expect to always face 1 big 4 member to win a slam, maybe more. And then some solid top 10 players. What you're talking about is a normal draw
@quibquab17314 жыл бұрын
@zakaria djouzibruh have u seen the AO 2012 draw????? Berdych, Federer then Djokovic. That is a tough draw. Not Wawrinka and Federer, that's standard. Federer Wimbledon 2014, Wawrinka Raonic Djokovic standard Federer us open 2015 Wawrinka Djokovic, another standard draw. Federer Wimbledon 2015 Murray followed by Djokovic another standard draw. Federer Wimbledon 2012 Djokovic followed by Murray. These are all very common draws to win a slam. Not at all uncommon. Djokovic AO 2016, Nishikori, Federer Murray. Djokovic AO 2015, Wawrinka Murray..another normal draw. Like are u saying everyone of these slam draws are more difficult than usual......please just stop

@TysonGraham-gu7ck10 ай бұрын
If he actually tried, he'd be a great player sure. There's no way he would own mens tennis. Talent means way more than looking cool and doing tweeners. To me he's not even half as talented as the big 3. They have the natural hand-eye coordination and flare along with more athletic talent. The social media era and the Australian media have blown this guy up into something he never was. Gael Monfils, Richard Gasquet, Nalbandian, Verdasco, Tsonga were all underachievers, all talented. But I've never seen a guy do so little for so long, ranked in the 50's or lower, come into the Australian Open and have the entire national media say "could he make a run this year", "this could be his year", "all eyes on Nick", and then tear the guy down when he doesn't get it done. If he was injury free, worked his ass off, and was all there mentally, he still couldn't touch the big 3 in their prime.

I think Kyrgios seriously have to see a psychologist, to improve his emotions and therefore his game. Great players like Nadal and Federer were very mature since their beginnings. 28:48 seems effective to me. The issue isn't the technique, its the player. Kyrgios's forehand technique is more than capable of outputting enough quality to beat nadal, but Kyrgios himself struggles to output that quality for an extended period of time. To be fair to him, he played a very long match against khachanov the match before and he was likely tired. We can see at 28:48 though, what happens when he really puts in that effort. His footwork was great and his preparation super early on every one of these shots. the results were world class. not everyone can approach every point with this kind of intensity though. this is what makes dominic thiem so good.

In the beginning Nadal was smart to hammer Kyrgios’s back hand, should have continued to do so.

Nadal was so good in this match, if this was djokovic to play against kyrgios, the result could be different. In this AU, Djokovic was at a much easier draw than Nadal

Particularly impressed with how Nadal repeatedly caught Nick by surprise with his serve ... usually its the other way around ... and Nadal definitely returned Nick's nuclear serves extremely well during this match !

Noticed something..Nada rarely had any expressions very unlike him.... kyrgios actually feeds on that

As a Rafan, he would probably be more efficient if he hit some flat balls down the line, like he did in 2010.

I feel like it's also the key to beating djoko on hardcourts, like how he did it in 2010 and 2013

@@atptouracademy1121 his forehand shots now are a bit predictable and often land too short with high bounces, making it easy for players to attack

@@user-pi9mw8mk7p Yup, though I think it depends on the surface and conditions like on fast surfaces like the US Open he was hitting them quite low and hard.

Funny that both players had chances to win match as(s) two tiebreaks in 3,4th sets occured. tie=break you know is quick up-and-down blitz round with lottery tickets of luck Nick was desperated after initial set then could win set in 3rd set tiebreak and match in 4th set "sudden death" blitz.

if kyrgios had less topspin and more flat forehand and a more topspin backhand, he would easily win slams
