AARSHIN KARANDE, senior disciple of Mewati Gharana luminary SANDEEP RANADE "NAADRANG," offers a rendition of Rāga Jhinjhoti on the occasion of Pandit T. D. Janorikar's birthday (June 13th). This bandish was by Janorikarbuwa's guru, Ustad Aman Ali Khansaheb, who composed using the mudra, "Amar."
Rāga Jhinjhoti, named after the goddess's trestle of hair, is an ancient rāga. This rāga has a tender, lovey-dovey, gentle vibe that lends itself well to compositions with texts set to devotion, adoration, and surrender.
Aarshin has admired Janorikarbuwa's music since his late teens. This rāga and bandish are presented humbly as an offering to the brilliance that is Pandit T. D. Janorikar-ji.
