Kumar Somanath Mardur is a highly talented Indian classical vocalist from Dharwad, Karnataka. He received initial training in music from his father Somanath Mardur, senior disciple of Puttaraj Gavai and Basavraj Rajguru of Kirana gharana, and later learnt under the able guidance of Ustad Firoz Dastoor and Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar. Endowed with a melodious voice, Kumar Mardur has earned recognition for aesthetic excellence in the presentation of ragas, clarity in taan patterns and impeccable command over laya. In 2013, music connoisseurs at the Bengal Classical Music Festival witnessed a memorable performance by Kumar Mardur. He received much appreciation for the ease with which his melodious voice traversed the three octaves. He was accompanied in the tabla , harmonium and sarengi by .Ashok Mukherjee., Rupashree Bhattacharya and Sarwar Hossain respectively.
