The Refused & At the Drive-In to name a couple off the top of my head. The 90's was a great time for progressive music in general, hip-hop and metal/hardcore in particular. I went to see Rollins Band at The Fast Lane in asbury Park New Jersey in 92. We were early for the show. The crowd is getting amped right before the show. The last song the DJ played before the show was this obscure funk base angry beat that I never heard. I hustled down to the Dj to find out who the artist was. Bombtrack. Ratm. I went and bought the vinyl the next day. Still have it.

I would be at my local bar in my early 20’s all the private school college kids would call me a “Towny” whatever , but they’d be playing their Drake , Future , Miley Cyrus , whatever was popular at the time on the Juke Box we had there … Then I’d slip in and play some Rage and theyd look at me like an outcast.
