I think it's more or less how you look at these figures. If you're buying them for the figurines themselves, one for $10 isn't bad, especially given the quality on some of them. They're nice to look at, sometimes even possible to play with at times (wether by pretending that they're action figures or using them as figures for board games). That said, the same can be said about other figures. Still, for $10, that's still a decent price for some of these given the high quality on them. And hey, these figures happen to have a nice little gimmick in some of the games too! A lot of people keep calling them physical DLC, and while that is true, in the end they're still toys you can play with or use for decorating as well. I think they're nice little additions to a world where small miniature figures are much less relevant in a fully-advanced technological world. I'd personally love to own one or two Amiibos, especially Pikachu and Kirby, or at least the Disney Infinity figures for both Venom or Spider-Man. I don't own any of the games, but they're great figurines to own and feel proud of. Now microtransactions on the other hand....

I remember the amiibo fever from 6-7 years ago, that was unhealthy for so many, specially for me, that I wanted every single one of them. Good Lord I sold all of them and I only kept the ones I main in Smash Bros (Dedede, K Rool and Banjo), Mario and Super Mario Bowser, because the money you spend on that crap you can use it for A LOT of other stuff

I want to collect every one of them (except crystal versions, glow in the dark versions, special edition, etc.) but as time goes on, i realize that apart from not having enough money or time to collect them all before college/university, i dont have enough space for them. Should I only get amiibo and collect the digital versions of the figures on the free-online version of infinity or should i ditch amiibo and keep going with my growing collection of infinity figures?

They are multi-use figures that have all sorts of functions. Sometimes it is unlocking a character. Sometimes it's about upgrading it, other times it's about storing data and sometimes fighting against it. I see some use for it for, say, having your preset fighting game data on it and scanning it into the competition's Wii U to start fighting immediately.
