It's a situation of mess with the bull and you get the horns, except there are four of them, and they each control a specific element that you cannot defend against. You are dead if you even try to stop them, but if you help them, they'll not only let you live, but give you complete freedom to do just about anything so long as they get what they want. You don't do so, well, you're toast, literally in the case of the Fire Knight's magic.

One time I don’t know if this has happened to anyone else but my friend was hit by a thief bomb on this level and was knocked into a weird place between the carriage and the wheel, so he was constantly taking ticks of 4 damage every like 3rd of a second, he had 5 potions before he got stuck.
