*Update 5/7/23 - New video is public kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2Obi5t8mM99jbs Features the replacement upper which is a RD Mk1 Mod1 Patrol. Positive outcome.* Update 5/1/23 - Replacement upper from Radical Defense arrived. The Managing Director personally test fired it and included the brass in the box along with his business card. I will update again when time allows me to verify function. Update 4/19/23 - The Managing Director of Radical Defense LLC contacted me yesterday. This was not an escalation on my part. It was on his initiative. We spoke for 30 minutes. I have a new return label in hand directly from him. I will update again with results of this process.

@@RageQuit003 Happy to say issue was resolved and turn around time was about a week. Alex in customer service was awesome to work with. I purchased this same RF rifle last November at my local gun shop, first AR I ever owned. I was originally checking out an M&P Sport 2 for around $800 when I saw the RF on sale for $499. My initial thought was that it was a great looking rifle, but why is it so cheap? The employees at the gun shop didn't have any experience with RF and therefore couldn't answer my questions, so I literally went out into the parking lot and phoned Radical directly. I spoke to one of their sales reps, and our 45 minute conversation touched on many topics, including the quality of their rifles, and how they are able maintain low prices without sacrificing quality. I liked what I heard, and after our chat I decided to go back into the store and purchase the rifle. Again, I have never owned an AR-15, so when I took it to the range for the first time, I never thought to check the ejected brass casings as you did. My rifle has performed flawlessly through probably 350-400 rounds so far. Radical has sold tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of these rifles over the last decade or so, and the customer reviews are overwhelmingly positive. Having said that, companies can make or break their reputations by how they handle any problems with their product, and I will certainly be looking forward to watching your update.

Bought a 6.5 Grendel upper from Radical. Handguard came loose, good looking but poor barrel nut/fastening method. I trued the receiver face and installed a Geissele nut and handguard. Absolutely the most accurate AR I've ever shot, 5 shot cloverleafs at 200 yards, 10 shots on an 8" plate at 500 yds. Yes I essentially had to rebuild their upper but can't complain, it worked out well.

With that being said, If I have problems with multiple firearms from the same manufacturer... I certainly would not purchase another one from them.. You have to admit they probably produce thousands Of AR's... So to have trouble with one wouldn't be that big of a deal but when you have multiple it's time to change brands...

My only issue with a Radical firearm in the last year or two is that rifle came very dry. I lubed it up before ever using it which is always recommended anyways. I think at this price point QC is always going to probably be your #1 factor in issues that may arise. I will say I’ve also had QC issues with BCM, PSA, and Brownells. It’s unfortunate but especially with budget guns you really have to break them down and have a good look at it.

QC is lackluster across the spectrum of companies. Just had to RMA a 11.3" 6.8spc barrel back to Wilson Combat. Wouldn't chamber a round. Disassembled the upper and held the barrel up and attempted to drop a round in the chamber. It wouldn't fit! It would only drop in as far as the shoulder of the case! It was like it was a 5.56 chamber or something. Took photos and emailed it to them and spoke to someone on the phone. When he saw the photos, all the guy could say was "Oh....that doesn't look right". Barrel is still in the inspection 'cue' at WC's shop. So, still I wait....

4 guns over the course of 7 years. One of them being my brother's since we SBR'd them at the same time. The 1st issue I didn't have any problems with their customer service. The others I fixed myself because I don't expect a budget gun to be perfect. However like I've told others in the comments, enough years have gone by since my last purchase and I watched several favorable reviews of this exact model along with 2 shop tours videos. So I gave them another chance with the expectation I'd be fixing minor things again.
@RageQuit003
@RageQuit003 Жыл бұрын
I disagree. It's an overbored chamber which means the explosion was not contained within the brass body. So the brass expanded, created velocity and impacted the barrel extension which causes stress on the barrel nut and receiver extension threads. So you got around 58,000 PSI of force which wasn't all directed down the barrel on 2 test fired rounds from Radical plus 4 more times by me in this video. So we'll disagree on whether that stress fracturing the upper's threads entitles me to a complete replacement. Not to mention the litigation Radical would have gone through if I had been injured.

I agree. I didn't go in expecting a perfect gun for $385. I fully expected to be fixing or tweaking minor issues...like all my previous purchases. However failing to QC at multiple steps during their manufacturing process and shipping dangerous guns is not excusable. I also shoot left handed and wouldn't be too keen on rupturing brass exploding in front of my face. I also don't agree with "you get what you pay for" or "buy once, cry once". Poor quality control can be found in all price ranges in AR platforms..Always check head space/ go gauge and field gauge at the minimum..223 chambers use a different go gauge than a 5.56 go gauge so be forewarned..Many places selling 5.56 go gauges are not true 5.56 go gauges but 223 commercial... That frosting on the brass from the new barrel the sign of a rough chamber and should have been sent back to be honed at the least.. I can't believe the poor quality leaving these AR manufacturers, sad!

You'd know immediately. The chambers are cut incorrectly, not measured and then sent to get melonited. Then their upper crew assembles them thinking they're good barrels because they're etched 5.56NATO. The second failure is their test fire crew. They fire 2 rounds and only care if it cycles. If it doesn't cycle they fire 5 rounds. However they never check the brass! They also don't verify the handguard bolts. If your brass looks good, you're fine. You don't have a defective barrel.

Maybe new management or quality control is the issue. I can't say my actual round count but it's been a solid performer for years. I think with all the competition in the lower tier AR companies, we've been spoiled by good quality at a reasonable price. Being that I have uploads of all my Radicals in competition and watched reviews of this RPR-15 before buying it for $385...that surprises you? Small channels like Nutnfancy vouching for this rifle. Yet you're surprised I think a company who sells 500-600 rifles per day along with being the OEM for other brands, might be worth another look. $300 means no expectation of a properly cut chamber to you? How much is the limit for a safe AR? Try googling "School of American Rifle autopsy" and click on the video sort option. You'll see such budget brands as Ballistic Advantage, LMT and PWS on the list.

I also recently purchased their FR-15 (my first AR) and it seemed to be scraping the ammo (lead) as it loaded pretty roughly (partly due to my limp wristing the charge). I never even fired the weapon and contacted their customer service after showing my gun store fellow. Radical took it back and looked at it and did some test fires and a few other things. The customer service was fine in my opinion (thanks Adams) but as you mentioned it was rude to send it back without telling you it has shipped (they did me the same way and apologized for doing me that way when I griped). I didn't have the other problems you had. They even sent me an extra mag (I like them because they are metal and I use magnets to store spares) and some cheap gun swag when it came back to me... (took about a month). All in all, I can't complain. Then again, I don't use the language you do (your video is misclassified family friendly for some reason).... and have never been kicked off a gun range. That said, that oversized barrel bore was pretty scary to see. Like one of their test fires had it expand and they didn't notice it.

Radical (well the repair dept) don't exactly explain a lot of things (imagine they are busy)... I figured there was just a rough area/burr (misalignment in the loading area?). As shown in this video, they send a list of checks the house gun smiths do (I am not digging it up for you because I am lazy). I didn't fire the gun (before returning it) because I like to just cycle ammo through a gun to check it out first (get a feel of how it cycles etc...), the lead scraped made a little birdnest of scrapings after manually racking a couple of mags through it (I had bought six Magpul mags to test also)... The ammo also was giving me a FTF (again probable due to my limp-wristing loads, AR are meant to be manhandled). So I imagine they just polished the area where it loads... something I could of done myself but the gun was new and I didn't want problems if I had done it myself (warranty voids). They do have a good Lifetime warranty I wanted to keep intact. Probable just shooting it a bit would of cleared up my problems, but this was my first AR and I was gonna be cautious.

I think you're misinterpreting my situation. Their customer service 8 years ago wasn't an issue. Their customer service now is. Hence this upload was created so others could search for it. Companies don't change from an individual not buying. They change because of feedback...which is what this video is for. Companies can make all kinds of justifications and speculations on why their sales are down. They can blame market conditions, supply costs and politics. Negative feedback however makes it clear. Videos like mine actually promote change. Not buying a product just results in a lost sale they never knew they had. They don't care. Also Radical ships 500+ guns per day, 6 days a week to their distributors. They will not notice you not buying from them. While I have had an issue with every Radical firearm I've purchased, I've gone into those purchases knowing full well this is a price point gun. I've gone into every purchase with the expectation I will have to fix or modify a volume produced price point product. It's the catastrophic failure due to lack of quality control processes that are the issue. There's a difference between low quality and dangerous. Nobody buys dangerous, but I will buy low quality. Despite my history of having to fix every Radical gun I've owned, I bought this RF-15 RPR because it had a lot positive youtube videos. It had been years since I bought a Radical product, but after seeing all the positive videos along with 2 shop tours I decided to give them another try. I still expected to be fixing something that cost me $385, but it was worth the risk. My mistake was not expecting the terrible customer service after experiencing a potentially lawsuit worthy catastrophic failure. So I don't see it as a fool me 3 times situation...which is actually 4 times if we count my brother's gun.

But then when reloads have far more pressure than military loaded 5.56x45 where are the blown-up guns if reloading data show loading that far exceed the military pressure loadings of 5.56x45? These video and the comments are liars and bull shiters and ignorant Parrot mouth talker !

Good job checking your brass first thing. That barrel was really out of spec.

Bought a dB-15 you won't regret it I'm new to Ars but not guns and it is an impressive gun. Very light and it will kick them out with no jams also accurate as hell

DB is very good, my son has one. I own the Radical Arms RF-15 and so far ( over 2000 rounds) not a single failure of any kind. I shoot PMC X-tac and AAC 55 and 62 grain FMJ. I would recommend this rifle to anyone.

I bought, one the end of Year. I noticed that the M-Lock was a little loose out of the box . So I took it to my gun Smith. And also wanted to do things like the bolt carrier wouldn't release the casing, and the brass was marked up to the top of the bullet. There were also metal shavings on the rifle itself . So I cleaned it, took a small wire brush to the places that had burrs and it seemed to do the trick Took it to Aaron and he did what he always does, and Said no problems after he took it to the range to make sure it was doing what it should.

I just took mine to the range for the first time and right out of the box it won’t even chamber the first round!

Mine did some goofy stuff too. Had double feeds, failure to feed, failure to extract. More i ran it and beat it more it eased up. Lubed the absolute shit out of it. Headspace checks good. Bolt lock ups good. Im playing with buffer springs and weights today

@@mitchelldedes8315lol mine was literally shoving casings into the barrel. Took out bcg and sprayed clp liberally as there is RED FUCKING PACKING GREASE ALL OVER A GUN FROM TEXAS. Hot chassis grease type shit and heat doesn't mix. I also put some atf lightly over the bcg and lever. Shoots beautiful

Update, mine didn’t have a feed ramp, Marksman swapped the upper out with another one and are sending my old one back to Radical, blows my mind that would make it through QC.

Maybe you should do a review on Firearms customer service because I am having horrible issues with my Taurus, Handgun and the customer service with these guys is appalling. They kind of did the same thing with my Handgun just sending it back and not addressing the issues that I mentioned to them, they were even trying to make me pay for shipping the Handgun back to them and the kicker is I’ve only had this Handgun for six months and I have not even been able to fire a complete through it without having issues and yes that I am new to the firearm industry And my buddies tell me not to purchase a Taurus, but I like to judge things for myself and now I am starting to agree with them now. Good luck. I hope everything had worked out.

The review on their Customer Service would be bad. From what I've seen in the comments it's still a problem. However I did a follow up video to this one after multiple phone calls with Radical's Managing Director and CEO. He knows how to resolve problems and takes liability issues seriously.

I ALWAYS check headspace on every barrel or upper I buy with at least 2 stripped bolts and then I put the bolts back into the bcg and test headspace again. 223 no go/ go gauges and 1 5.56 no go gauge. I should really buy a field gauge. Lol. Invest in gauges. Good way to check before the range. It'll take like 10 minutes tops. Once you get used to it. I really want a chamber or throat gauge like sotar. Dont even wanna how much those costs haha. Anyways I'm not dissing radical firearms.. I do not own any uppers from them. I do have mlok accessories and pic rail accessories. But you get what ya pay for. Plus I'm picky as hell. I want chf/bfh barrels only. Aero came out with a chf nitrided barrel which I plan on buying in the future.

223 uses a different go gauge than a 5.56 go gauge. I see way more short chambers in 5.56 than over sized chambers..

Just had a RF15 that I bought in March 2023. Bolt would not close on a round (out of battery) Radical CS told me to keep letting the bolt slam forward to break it in. Finally got a RA# in June. Three weeks later got a reply to my inquiry about the status of my gun. The bore was out of spec. and would be replaced. The Customer should not be your quality control department Radical. Crossing my fingers that it will work when I get it back.

That was poor customer service. I def agree with that. You should just build your own out of 80% lowers. Just buy all the parts and build it from tip to butt. You end up with a better firearm. And for the same price as that kind of firearm.. In my opinion its also a fun hobby. I mean, if you can't get what you pay for, then you can't get them to honor there word, what's the point of buying there stuff?
@RageQuit003
@RageQuit003 11 ай бұрын
Not interested in 80% lowers because I don't keep every gun. Sometimes I want to try a turnkey solution rather than assembling my own parts ordered from a bunch of retailers. I also wouldn't build a rear charging gun(I have several videos on this).
