The way a tutorial should be done. Just the facts. No idle chatter. Sound level perfect. Good closeups of actual technique. Very well done, young lady. I learned more in your video than those in which the hostess feels the need to share their history. We had a detective show years ago where the protagonist said “just the facts, ma’am!” You have demonstrated this admirably.

About five years ago I made a Boucherouite rug very similar to the one on the video cover. I even used almost the same colors. Really beautiful. Yours is also very nice.

Love Proddy! I also use the straight hook -like tool and work from the back. I use primitive linen as well to reduce shrinkage. My Proddy is also used with traditional rug hooking (proggy?) for 3 dimensional effect

Can these rugs be washed, in a washing machine? I don't like hessian, can somethinng else tougher be used?
@Raggedlifedesigns4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kathryn, yes, they can be washed on a cold cycle in the washing machine. I normally put them in a pillow case to protect them a bit. They take a long time to dry, so wash them on a nice sunny day if you can :)

@@Raggedlifedesigns . Thanks. I would been a huge pillow case to wash the size of rug I want to make. Lol.
@Raggedlifedesigns4 жыл бұрын
@@kathrynletchford8603 Hahaha, a duvet cover also does the trick ;) If they don't fit in your washing machine then you can take them down to the laundrette or dry cleaner (they have larger drums). I do hope that helps! :)

This is the Boucherouite, a traditional Moroccan Berber carpet. Very well known in the Atlas mountains of Morocco. A good mention would be nice. Otherwise, it's cultural appropriation :)
@Raggedlifedesigns4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. Actually Boucherouite rugs are made in completely different way using looms. I’ve written a blog post on it if you’d like to learn more. The technique of rag rugging demonstrated in this video is an adaptation of the historical British way of making rag rugs using a hessian (burlap) base. Give me a shout if you need more info. All the best, Elspeth

Isnt everything? Or you could say its just variations on a theme.
@Raggedlifedesigns4 жыл бұрын
@@vickywilliams8320 Exactly, they're all variations on a theme. They are fall into the category of "rag rugs", which are rugs made of rags, but different countries have different traditional ways of making them. The one in the video above is based on the British form of rag rug making done onto hessian, where as Moroccan rugs traditional don't have a base at all and are made on a loom :)

Really--cultural appropriation?. I would say it is admiration for a cultures artistry. We all can learn from each other and not get hung up in WOKEISM.
