Just because he lost against someone doesn't mean their deck is better, maybe he messed up at some point or maybe the other person made better plays. Also depends on playstyle, you need to know how to play the entire deck in a particular way because every card in the deck has a purpose. This is why just copying someone's deck is not always the best answer.
