for us who played RO, i guess this song really sticks in our mind, and heart... its just outside of prontera. its where the newbies leveling up. its where some of us sitting around just to hang out and chat with friends. and of course. its probably where most of us got tragically murdered by a tiny weak lookng butterfly.

Priceless moments happened when the first release of Ragnarok Online WOE , everything is the real thing, every people you chat in there are always excited and almost all are able to talk with, now its gone.. just nostalgia.. I miss old ragnarok even old payon and old morroc

Indeed. What we perceive as sad, happy or nostalgia is completely subjective.

It's wonderful how both your question and all the answers above are very relevant! The subjective but real nostalgia, which's something very particular, and the musical structure, that's very peaceful, lovely, a little melancholic… everything mixes up I believe! Musically speaking, from my humble opinion and experience, I can point out some things. Like going from the 4th major chord (Ab in the case) to home (1st chord, Eb in the case) is a very peaceful, cheerful change, especially depending on how you play it, and here it's played in a slow paced arpeggio. Add these dissonant notes in harmony, like the 9th notes of each chord (Bb for Ab chord, and F for Eb chord) bring this ethereal atmosphere! These 9th notes are played both in the right and left hands. Also the “second part” of the music brings some resolutions that reminisces Japanese intervals that express a nostalgic and kind of romantic feeling, a lot of this used for anime songs, like the expectation that goes from 4th to 5th chord (Ab to Bb in the case), but instead of adding more tension to it as usually done in anime songs, it goes to a peaceful home chord (1st, Eb again) - (not sure how abstract this is sounding!) - with a little special note in the end of the melody phrase (0:41 to 0:51), which’s out of the scale, F#, in the sequence “D Eb F Ab G >F#< G”. For me this note nourishes a romantic and even homy, rustic feeling, very comfy actually! And of course, add your memories and experiences to it: your friendships, moments full of emotions, your daily life back then -- there you have it! This magical feeling of nostalgia you describe, in my point of view. :) Wow, that was such an experience to analyse this piece that I love from my heart! I also played RO and have lots of memories with these wonderful pieces! Thank you for the opportunity, and hope that can bring some inspiration about this magic and powerful world that’s the world of music! 🙂 Thank you Dolcemochi for your wonderful and all-true arrangement ❤️
