Gonobahini and Rakkhi Bahini were fighting with each other. Some believed in Bengali nationalism, some believed in Communism, some were secularist, and some were pro-Indian; nothing was clear. Khaled Mosharraf was a pro-Indian, according to Defense Intelligence. He wanted an Indian coalition Government. General Zia was a professional soldier but from a traditional Muslim family. Colonel Taher wanted a communist revolution in Bangladesh. He publicly said it even before his death.
