I was so excited to see this pop up! I'm really glad it looks like SM actually looked at the original and rather than reprinting the game and likely making some money, they actually took the time to improve, playtest, and revamp all th graphics.

I am so excited for this game! I became interested in Libertalia when it showed up on Board Game Arena, and I was disappointed that it was out of print. To be able to get a new and improved version (with art that I consider a vast improvement over the original) and developed/produced by Stonemaier Games, that is a no-brainer. I can't imagine a better scenario for me to get this game. Thanks also for the solo run-through. I love playing solo games too, and this looks to be a lot of fun!

At 19:00 Rahdo is right. Reputation determines how the characters are placed (higher reputation to the right), and then daytime effects are resolved left to right. So in this instance lower reputation does have the advantage

Really nice runthrough, I remember watching your original Libertalia runthrough, now this makes me want to get the new version. Thanks for all you are doing, Rahdo! :) Small thing for Paolo (just phrasing, no gameplay error): In 42:05 he confuses the tokens, he meant "every map makes my treasure chest more valuable".

This game seems like a real kick-in-the-pants. Adding to my must-buy list, especially for the solo mode.

Can't wait for this one to release. And they do have some opportunities for small expansions. Notably adding new tiles for existing loot and all new look tokens as well. They could add new characters that interact with new loot bit there are some opportunities to expand the game.

don't understand what you are trying to say... he resolved the Stowaway and the Barrel ability at that point, so what are you saying he didn't do? He said "at this point I care more about points than reputation, SO I'll keep the barrel" he was not saying that later he could discard the barrel to get the reputation if he wanted, he said, at this moment that I have to make this decision I value more the points than being able to advance in the reputation track, so I'll keep the barrel, he resolved the ability... But that was so clear that it can't be what you are referring to... so, please let me know what you are saying he missed. Thank you

I wonder if the Automa isn't a bit weaker than you relatively. You can see what the Automa will play before you play your card, right? The only real suprise element comes from the Pilferer, but that only has influence on the order in which the loot tokens are chosen, not on the Automa's choice on card play.

the automa has a specific set of character cards that are tweaked from normal functionality to compensate for the effect you're talking about. you can also adjust the difficulty to be easier (giving you extra victory points at the start) or harder (giving the automa more bonus VP) :)

@@rahdo I know that those effects are different from the player's equivalents, but I didn't know that they're tweaked for compensation purposes. When combined with difficulty/handicap adjustments, that makes sense.

I watch a heap of your run through videos, play a crazy amount of board games, heavy and light, and I’ve never been so confused lol. I even get the gist of the game having played Citadels before, but idk, this is just all over the place (not sure if it’s the game or your run through or probably my brain wiring has just met it’s obscure match for some reason)

It's actually very friendly, but he's playing the 1 player mode, which is confusing if you haven't played the regular game.

I'm surprised that with how many mistakes you make that you so often catch them a few minutes later. I often don't catch mine until the end of a game and then I end up rewriting most of the rules in shorthand so I don't do it again.... BTW, I love that sweater. What brand?
