Thanks for the Rundown. Its on my Essen List this year after i heared about it. But i wasn't sure if the gameplay is a good simulation where we could have fun with it. Your Rundown helps me a lot.

Does anyone else get a Food Chain Magnate feel from this? I get that sense from the expanding turn options, undercutting prices, and R&D type mechanisms.

Hey Rahdo, can you comment on the last turn of the game if it feels like you're just going through the motions? i. e. Program the pad then watch it play out with first player having a huge advantage. That could swing my decision. With the expansion this runs close to a hundred bucks for me - is it "that" good? I can't decide.

sorry it's been over 2 years since i played the game (i only ever tried the prototype... the publisher never sent me a final retail edition) so i can't say :(

@@jacobjslee i can't play it. they didn't send me a review copy, just the prototype. and if a publisher doesn't send me a review copy, i simply don't play it because at any given time, i've got a queue of 80 or so submitted games that need covering, so it's not fair to those pubs who have sent review copies out for me to put them behind the queue for a game i bought myself...

Hi Rahdo I just played a 5p game of Smartphone yesterday and we were having a discussion how the game won't work with 2 or 3p. But you talk so good about it on this rundowsn. Could you explain a bit more why you like it so much as a 2p game? Thanks!

i can't imagine why anyone wouldn't think it's a good 2p game. the core decisions are around the actions you're going to do on the datapads. the board tightens up just fine we thought. if you can point me towards some of these discussions you're referencing, i'll go check them out :)

​@@rahdo The tighten part is the one we were having more doubts. We got to an idea that, with less than 4, there is a lot of free space to do what you want. And, a bit like in El grande, the area control fight is an important part of the game. In full disclosure, only one person reads the rules and knows how the retail work (and it wasn't me).

i never got a final version, so i've only played the prototype and i don't tend to rate those. i'd say it's a mid-8 though

i make all the rundowns i film over the course of a month public at the end of the month, every month. in the past, i've done it "silently" so no notifications are made other than the "monthly rundown compilation" video. but a bunch of viewers complained that this wasn't enough and they missed some vids, so this month i started announcing all of them, hence the notification barrage.
