This is the 3rd consecutive day I'm listening to this song, every now and then. Every time I listen, the urge to listen once more is undying. To me, the music is just not filling inside me. To add to it, the smooth melodious voice is yet difficult to let go off. When I'm not hearing it, the song is playing in my head and sometimes, I'm murmuring. The meaning of each and every verse has several layers of meaning, which I get to unfold each time I hear the song. Every tune reminds me of some moment of my childhood and the memories it brings alive gives me a feeling that is beyond expression. Jab hum na honge (when I would have returned to Dust) jab hamari khaak pe tum rukoge chalte chalte (while you'll wander around the face of the earth, you would be infact walking over my ashes, which infact would have got mixed with the earth. Let's be honest. Although Malika Taranum was a great singer in her own right, she was no match for Lata Mangeshkar. She was not even close to her. Her voice was more throaty with high pitch. Whereas voice of Lata was more melodious and came from her heart. Whenever I listen to her songs particularly old ones, I am transported to another world. It lifts my spirits.
