Okay, you got me with the Rahul bait, I'm subscribing. If this channel is good enough for Hollywood's Bad Boy it's good enough for me. I haven't played since 3rd edition so this all now seems incredibly foreign to me, especially the idea of not having to kill every single unit. As a former Khorne player it's just.. beyond my comprehension. But it's interesting to see how things have changed and it's always heartwarming when new people get introduced to the lust for war and death and skulls that lives in all our hearts. Such wholesomeness.

honestly I feel like this combat patrol game is a really rough match up. No real answers to that Hive Tyrant. And Whilst I do rate infiltrators and Eliminators, I think the rest of the box is really lack luster, mean while the Tyranid Combat Patrol is imo one of the best. Idk about competitively but as a casual player I think all of the Tyranid box is actually really quite good barring the Rippers, and they are like 45 points and have some use as little objective grabbers. I've been playing for 6 or 7 years as Marines and even against a brand new beginner I would feel pretty intimidated by this match up

Good first entry lesson! Sometimes your opponent won't show up with the exact minis on their list. Remember we're playing with toy soldiers. Don't take it too serious. Maybe don't let a Gun Drone replace a Stormsurge or something similar, but saying "Oh this tank is actually this other tank, I just built it wrong because the instructions were confusing," is fine. Most players have assembled a model then realized they fudged it about 4 glue steps back.

@@Aargo999 there were a lot of misplays that Steve should have been guiding Rahul around. Eliminators hit on 2+ not 3’s if stationary. Should have been spending more rerolls on failed saves earlier. Focus firepower on big bugs that are dangerous. Steve is too used to 2k games.

My 1st game was Tyranids vs Ultramarines. Some friends were playing a recreation of the compound defense in StarshipTroopers. It was a very narrative based session and my friends let me roll many times while I watched. I was immediately hooked. I bought my first set that day. There is just something about squishing bugs in the name of the Emperor. That feeling has been reinforced with the lore. Our play group is especially not happy with the bugs since the devastation of baal and 3 of my friends play blood angels, I play ultramarines with my previously mentioned other friend, and the other spacemarine player plays deathwatch... Needless to say, the one friend I have that got me addicted still plays Tyranids. He catches a lot of flak for it. It is all in good fun. He takes it pretty good. He has about 8000 points in Nids so the battles are never the same. I personally enjoy Tyrandis very much as an opposing force. They are tied with them walking green mushrooms for 1st place...
