It maybe a "pipeline" for cloud career : 1) gain relevant knowledge (take online course), 2) take the exam (certificates), 3) seek for job entry and 4) get real experience from working. In fact it is difficult to skip the first 2 steps for getting a cloud job. And there is a barrier to get real experience, since it involves much costs to take any testing or deployment from cloud.

Agree. Would like to add... After 2 weeks most cert knowledge starts to vanish from your life...which is traumatic and embarassing when an interview comes up in future. 2ndly my advise is to always achieve the entry level cert for the domain/goal you see yourself to be targetting. Those certs are the MOST helpful as they retain the foundational knowledge mandatory for the journey ahead ... going further with leveling up the certs convolutes your basics and you end up with confusion and frustration I know more confident and smarter Network Engineers with a CCNA than CCIEs who got lost under the "passing the expensive certification" pressures. DNT GO TOO IN DEPTH INTO CERTS..IT WILL RUIN YOUR YOUTH. Find excuses to engage in team wotk based experience. Youll never forget those.

As Rahul said, it’s correct, but one more thing here, my roommate and I last month applied to various companies. I was not getting single, but my roommate has 2 certifications, which is why he is getting lots of calls. We had the same resume with the same skills set, and he got selected in Amazon. If you have certifications, then it's good, but with the help of certification, you will get a job easily, but another main is that you need to survive in that position. If you have that level of proactiveness, nobody will do anything to you.

This was a good video. I think the biggest difference between today and maybe 5-6 years ago is that you could get certified and it was a springboard into a new career path. Fast forward to 2024 and the certification is now a nice to have, but you'd better have a few years of experience to go along with that certification. I also like how you spoke of collecting certifications. While it's great if you have a personal goal to master all of the aspects of a given cloud platform or several platforms for that matter, you are never going to need all of those skills unless you are a one person shop. The best route to utilizing cloud certification is to use it to distinguish yourself in a role that you already have or are closely aligned to.

How will you get a job interview if you don't have any certification, the recruiter won't even pick your resume. After getting the interview, then the certifications are useless that's when you need to show your skills. There should be a balance on both. Most of current jobs require you to have a valid certificate to apply. Skills alone will make it difficult for job. Same with cerficiations alone without skills. Most of cerficiate collectors including me does that because most of those come at a free of cost and we should take them as patnership requiments require people to be certified. And I also feel that as most of the cetifications is an mcq and mostly towards their service. Let it be aws or gcp or anything. It should come at a nominal free if its going to be expired. Even Kubernetes Certification have shortened their validity from 3 to 2 years. For Kubernetes the cost can be justified as they have to maintain a heavy server and the exam is hands on. But I still don't know why a provider is charging heavily for a certification that promotes their business. Also from one certification to a lot of certifications is where we are at even for a single provider. And the point should be more of certifications are good if you learn and attend rather than check dumps and pass.

I recently got placed because of the certs in my college as it created some impression on the interviewer but of course the interview didnt revovle around it. In the end i asked interviewer itself because he was friendly, what certs or skills should i prefer . He said your words only that it doesnt matter much but he said go for red hat certs and kubernetes. But as right now preparing for terraform associate from your course i knew one thing that as a newbie going through cert prep helps a lot because it can little bit gap up the knowledge which would rather require experience. The problem does lie on the certification. It is the problem of the industry. The recruiter is not actually sure what they want from the candidate. If a candidate is not from the HR's cherished source, then you will be interviewed that you don't have any idea about. I myself is the proof. I am an MCA from a central university and also certified Linux admin in available as well as holder of CCNA. I answered all the questions of Linux and networking. Suddenly the discussion moved to cloud in which I am not an expert. Still answered one of two questions. At the end, their reply was I don't have necessary qualification and experience in cloud. But the post was of Linux admin😅 they want a shirt of such a size that will fit everyone. Situation of Indian IT industry is grim and videos like yours are making the protective candidates more confused. You yourself are confused and therefore try to confuse others too.😮 Indian IT a junk.😮

Definitely need to put a lot of thought into what you said. It all seems true, but, in consulting especially, employees are forced to get certified in every certification that exists. Also, for a Cloud consulting company to be a Partner with Amazon or Google or Microsoft needs some %age of employees to be certified in AWS, GCP or Azure to be recognized as official partners. This is the only criteria to get a partnership with those companies. So, people working in Sales, Testing, Data backgrounds are forced to pursue these certifications even though they do not use these skills in their day-to-day job. So, if you’re saying that people need to stop pursuing these certifications, what would you advise the consulting companies do otherwise?

You point is valid for consulting firm no doubt about it and it is needed for being complaint partner with aws, gcp… but on the other hand consulting companies have big advantage of showcasing - 1.testimonial from clients 2. References from actual work 3. Putting up open source work to demonstrate the ability 4. Offering free consultation to client for a week and converting it into paid opportunity so that they feel safe

I don't agree with this completely. Certificates are valuable at 2 levels, entry level and professional level. Anyone doing IT should get atleast the fundamental certificate in their area of experience. This gives new hires a bit more noticeability over people who are fresh out of college with no work experience and it shows your employer you are willing to make an effort to upskill yourself. I have noticed hard requirements for professional level certifications in senior/lead/principal roles. Just because you did the same thing for 7 years doesn't mean you have the in depth knowledge that these professional level certifications test you on. Outside of entry level / top level certifications in the area of your expertise, there is no need for certifications imo.

My point is focus on certification which bring in value for your day to day job and do it honestly not just by buying online exam questions dumps and clearing the exam without even putting effort to learn the topic

What if you are tired of your day job and want to switch roles/fields. I am technical engineer but I absolutely hate my job. I am sick and tired of it.😢…but I have an interest in AI so what do I do? Stay stuck?
@RahulWagh
@RahulWagh 3 ай бұрын
No you should not stay stuck but rather start learning the AI. Do not learn AI just for the sack of clearing the certification but rather first focus on concepts and then do the certification. A lot of people now a days just clear the certification by reading the online dumps and not even putting an effort to learn the concepts

@@RahulWagh Thank you for the advice. I started learning the cloud last year. I have not taken any certifications yet because I wanted to focus on becoming good at doing things hands on. The first certifications I am taking are the AI ones.

Yes it is possible first learn the basic of clouds before even trying to directly jumping on the data engineering topics. Focus on network vpc how resources are deployed managed then learn the data engineering

No but recruiters are idiots - even if you have actual real life experience deploying apps on AWS and using various AWS products, if they don’t see some kind of AWS certification, many will end up overlooking you.
@RahulWagh

Yeah it is true but be honest about the certification if you do. Try to pass the certification not just by worshiping the online questions dumps because that would defy the purpose of certification. Learn the concept and then focus on clearing the exam by practicing it

You are absolutely wrong, you are only talking in one perspective i.e., experienced person's one. Do not you think people of other backgrounds, college going kids, and even researchers wants to learn cloud computing. You have typical mindset like HR.
