Raid 5 allows you to replace a drive without losing your data or having to swap it out

This is partially correct. You can also do nested raid like raid 10 (1+0 not ten) which is mirroring for redundancy and stripping for speed of access. This is currently the best way to ensure redundancy while having access speeds relatively unhindered, but also very expensive because you need clones of your drives basically. And nested raids are only possible through hardware.

Raid 0 having no redundancy is an overstatement, with multiple drives which can fail and one failure is enough to render all data lost, its more like negative redundancy.

raid 5 is cache summing the drives not taking a third of the drive each drive has a smaller cache sum of the others and the redundant has a large cache sum allowing you to recover entire drives

What’s the point of these raid set ups?

For raid 0, it’s for the most storage possible and faster speeds. For raid 1 it’s for eliminating the single point vulnerability. For raid 5 or 10 its gives you more storage space and parity. Hard drives can fail easier than solid state drives but they are pretty cheap For example, let’s say you have 3 10tb HDDs. In raid 0 you have 30TB of storage, in raid 1 you have 10TB but if 2 hard drives fail you still have a copy of the data. In raid 5 you have 20TB of space and can lose 1 drive without data loss. In raid 0 you have 30TB but because of how it stores data, you lose 1 and all of your data is gone

Always remember that RAID is not a backup, always follow 3 2 1 backup strategy for important data.

@@gianfrancocruzatti4919 it is for redundancy. For example a mechanical failure of one HDD...it cannot help with a fire in the building where all the drives fail!!
